I was wondering what you guys were talking about. How weird. Haven't seen Moonlight, so don't know whether it is a good thing or not.

Damn, so close to having my favorite movie of the year actually win Best Picture. What a clusterfuck finish...

Anyways, while there were some questionable wins among the technical categories (Suicide Squad? Really?), I was pleased by most of the "bigger" awards outcomes. I'm actually surprised that all of my picks for the acting categories actually won, that almost never happens. And Damien Chazelle for Best Director is nice, too. The wrong song from La La Land won, though.

Watching the video, you can't help but feel bad for all the LLL people up on stage. That said, there is not really much else to do except fire whoever fucked up and go on with your lives, because shit happens sometimes.

They seemed pretty humble about it.

Besides the flub, this has to be the biggest upset for Best Picture since 2005, right?

I would give anything for some grainy cell phone footage of the pandemonium that must have occurred backstage when they read the wrong winner.

I don't even feel bad for anybody. Like, anybody.

So... Any chance that the La La Land team remains gracious about this all the way through, or will there be some type of lawsuit soon?

The producer that handed it off did it in the best way possible. Loved that.

I had this on in the background (and only during the latter half, at that) and was in and out of the room, so I only saw the aftermath live (Barry Jenkins holding his hand over his mouth, etc.). I just went back to watch the whole thing and goddamn what a mess. I had no idea they let the La La Land producers talk for so long. Props to Horowitz for jumping on that and course correcting so fast. What a disaster.

Seems Gosling is actually playing the piano himself in La La Land. That's amazing. He had 3 months of intensive practice it seems.

I went 14 for 24 last night on the Oscar Challenge page.

    Love that Moonlight won.

Bringing in the people from the tour was a disaster bit.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Horowitz handled it really, really well. Beatty tried to explain it wasn't his fault, Kimmel didn't know what to do, but Horowitz just said, no, Moonlight, you won, get up here, I'm happy for you. It turned an awkward moment into a pretty great twist ending.
