    Terminator 6

    Holy fuck.

Cameron apparently gets some rights back to Terminator in 2019, and is in early talks with Tim Miller to finish the franchise.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

    Believe it when it happens.

Why does this deserve a "holy fuck?"

Cameron isn't directing and Miller, well, after Deadpool the jury - that would be me - is out on whether he's got the chops for a Terminator movie.

Biggest hurdle is simply whether there is a story to tell. I mean, with Genysis they kinda overdid it so keep it simple instead. But then it's just a remake of Terminator 1.

Will they do it without Schwarzenegger? I'm thinking perhaps they should. Forget about past glories and really go for something new and different.

Apparently, the Ellison group is hiring top tier sci-fi writers to steer the story into an exciting new direction. There is still only so much that you can do.

    This guy is still alive:

    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0006075/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Why not get him out of retirement for a change?! He's been as integral to the franchise as Cameron and that would have gotten a holy fuck out of me.

If it's gonna play in Belgium, it'll be my most anticipated of the year. How weird is that? The Titanic conversion was exemplary I've heard so this bodes well.

Don't care. Still want to see Cameron's vision.

While speaking to News Australia, Cameron revealed that he actually has a trilogy in mind, and is working with current Terminator rights holder, David Ellison, to get it off the ground.

    Quote Quoting Cameron
"Can it still have relevance now where so much of our world is catching up to what was science fiction in the first two films. We live in a world of predator drones and surveillance and big data and emergent AI (artificial intelligence). So I am in discussions with David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half so he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it. We’ll put more meat on the bones if we get past the next couple of hurdles as and when we announce that."
    Quote Quoting Cameron
"I think it’s fairly widely known that I don’t have a lot of respect for the films that were made later, "I was supportive at the time in each case for Arnold’s sake because he is a close friend. He has been a mate of mine since 33 years ago so I was always supportive and never too negative. But they didn’t work for me for various reasons."

If it were for real, I'd be curious.

But I don't see how he can do 3 "Terminator" sequels and pump out the half dozen "Avatar" movies he has planned.

Well I think he'd only produce. But I somehow feel his role as producer would be like Spielberg's role in Poltergeist.

    Indeed.

They need to let this series die.

It won't die. Even if they left it alone for 20 years, it'd come back as a reboot.

I can see Arnie signing a deal to give away his likeness rights with the caveat that he has to appear in every Terminator movie made after his death.

    Not???

It's confirmed. I guess this reinforces the feeling that this movie will ignore all the Terminators after T2. Faith increased by about 5%.

    Waiting for Eddie Furlong now.

    - Will start filming in March
    - Robert Patrick will not return
    - Will ignore Genisys (Hurrah!)
    - The story has been crafted by Cameron himself
    - It will not be called Terminator 6
    - Hamilton has hit the gym

I never watched Genisys, but IIRC from what I read about it, didn't it suggest that the reason for the multiple timelines is because they exist in a multiverse and that all the different timelines (OG, Salvation, Sarah Connor Chronicles, etc) happen all at once but separately? They pretty much baked in an explanation for why you can make a movie that is a direct sequel to T2 without having to de-canon any of the other movies.

This the nicest, most thoughtful interpretation of anything Genisys offers.

From what I can recall, it does bring up the idea of alternate timelines, but no different than anything it has since the very first movie, where simply the very fact that John Connor exists in a future without the Terminator having been sent back is already an alternate timeline in and of itself. I honestly don't remember if it introduced the idea of simultaneous timelines.

Like pretty much everything Genisys does, it acts as if it's doing something new, opening up new possibilities, but really it just resets to the same place any of them has, ending on the expected "But we still gotta be ready stop Judgment Day!" narration note as they drive off into the sun.

I side with HG here. Sure, it continues the theme of sending Terminators back in time to change shit. We've seen that happen how many times now?

When Genisys was TRYING to do and failed, was pull a Days of Future Past on us. Reset everything. I really liked the remade callbacks from the original Terminator but that was it. Hated the rest of the movie that takes place in present time.

So for a franchise that took what seemed liked decades between sequels- has a movie scheduled for July 26, 2019.
