Spoiler alert - there will be aliens in this.
So until now, we just knew that it was called God Particle and that's it?
Give JJ a masters degree in Marketing
The idea of a franchise that has every entry be a standalone film in a different subgenre that all takes place during the same alien invasion is highly appealing to me.

Wait, is Cloverfield a banner or an actual overarching story? My understanding was it's a banner in the vein of what Carpenter/Hill tried to do with Halloween III.

Damn. I literally was just thinking to myself, 'What weekend does this come out this month?'Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

We still haven’t seen a still, a teaser, nothing...?
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Remember that the first time anybody even knew the second movie existed was when they dropped the trailer out of nowhere less than two months before the movie was released. This one is already ahead.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

All the movies coming out in 2018 are secretly Clover-verse projects.
Pretty sure all this Crocodile Dundee Jr business is just a front for Cloverfield.
Hell, take Crocodile, take the L, put it after the C, switch the R and the O or some shit like that, drop some of the other letters and add a v somewhere in there, as well as the word field, and you have cloverfield. This CAN'T be a coincidence.
Losing is like fertilizer: it stinks for a while, then you get used to it. (Tony, Hibbing)

I do think this is significant, though, because the first two (and God Particle) can be described as alien invasion movies. Does that mean we can expect this supposedly "supernatural WWII" story to involve aliens? If so, there is a problem with trying to loop disparate stories under such a specific brand while simultaneously being all mysterious about what they're about. But if they're just going with general sci-fi anthology that doesn't necessarily involve aliens and invites science experiments and things of that ilk into the same branding, then it's doubly weird to me. I mean, even Black Mirror follows a mission statement. If the branding is broadened, then what's the definition of a Cloverfield movie that audiences can latch onto? I find it confusing to wrap my head around the strategy.

Streaming immediately after Super Bowl maybe? Didn't someone here say that?

I can think about the worrisome prospects of a mid-budget cinematic properties being ushered off and bought by streaming-only capacity but right now WOOOOO YEEEAA
