    There's a strange semi-Uncanny Valley effect going on where my brain is fighting with itself trying to suss out the shots where it's really the Super-Committed Tom Cruise doing this or that and shots in which CGI has been used to sweeten the effect (by a little or a lot). It's almost disorienting at times and, I think, not entirely successful, but it's getting way better.

    Otherwise, I'm excited for another MI entry. These have been pretty great since III, like almost uniformly.

    In addition to having the same director for the first time, this entry continues to be an unusual installment by seeming to utilize same plot points and characters of previous ones. Hmmm.

    1:36, 2:09, 2:20, 2:22, and the last few shots with him inside the downed helicopter while other one is barreling toward him. There's just something of a slight sheen to these shots--although that could just be Tom Cruise's face.
