This will probably flip back by the end of the week. But after adding the totals from Valentine's Day, Fifty Shades Darker is actually leading Lego Batman.

Friday updates have been made:
The big story is Fifty Shades taking in more money than Lego Batman over the course of the week, despite the fact that the latter film won the weekend. Fifty Shades will likely drop after Valentine's, but Lego Batman now has to be questionable in terms of reaching a capping score. We'll see how this weekend goes.
With $42 in its opening week, John Wick 2 nearly matches the original film's take through its entire run.
Films finishing their run ... Split ($117), xXx: Return of Xander Cage ($44).
Three new films enter the fray this weekend and all three of them are facing poor reviews:
The Great Wall (Duke, TGM)
Fist Fight (Ezee, Spinal)
A Cure for Wellness (Spinal)
Can any of these films challenge for the top spot? My guess is no, but I am often surprised.

Friday updates have been made ...
Regardless of how well others might think The Great Wall did at the box office this week, for our purposes, it has to be considered a success for Duke and TGM, who both took the film in the 8th round. With $26 in its first week, it tops Fist Fight ($17) head-to-head, a film selected by Ezee and Spinal much earlier.
In other news Lego Batman took the dominant position over Fifty Shades (cross-over potential?), although it still looks like it is going to fall short of capping. More likely, it will end up in the Moana range.
A Cure for Wellness failed to make much of a splash for Spinal.
This weekend, we'll find out if some of us were really dumb for passing on Get Out when we had the chance to choose a replacement film.

Friday updates:
Get Out was not available during the initial drafting stage. However, many players had an opportunity to pick it up as a replacement pick. Alas, the $50 million from its opening week will go to nobody.
I'm not quite sure how to explain the lackluster box office performance of LEGO Batman compared to its predecessor. I fully expected this to soar past $200. On the contrary, it now appears the film is destined to end up around $150, meaning that Skitch and Gizmo will be giving up a lot of first round ground to their competition. HOWEVER ....
Both Skitch and Gizmo also possess Logan, which opens today to excellent reviews. It seems very likely that they will have another opportunity to pick up a film that caps.
John Wick 2 is turning out to be a strong choice for both Duke and Ivan.
On the other end of the spectrum, Rock Dog is a 5th round disaster for Skitch, looking like it will fail to hit $10. And Spinal whiffs with A Cure for Wellness, which is already petering into minuscule numbers in week 2.
Rings ($27) and The Space Between Us ($8) finish their unimpressive runs.

hahaha I've got the touch this season. The touch of doom.
Friday updates:
Logan has an enormous opening weekend and is well on its way to capping. Great news for Skitch and Gizmo.
LEGO Batman ($151), Fifty Shades Darker ($111) and John Wick 2 ($85) finish out their runs.
Table 19 is a round 7 misfire for Duke, as it's going to be lucky to hit $5 by the end of 4 weeks. Rock Dog and A Cure for Wellness aren't going to do much better.
Henry Gale completes his board in League A with a total of $592. Unfortunately, two of his competitors have already surpassed that total.
In League B, Ivan closes out with $664, a total that has him in first place for now, but within striking range for most of his competition.
It's clash of the titans this week as Kong: Skull Island tries to steal some of Logan's momentum. With all the raves for Logan, that might be a pretty tough feat.

Sure. I'm in again whenever we do it.
I doubt we finish by next Saturday, but if we can, I'm in.
I'll get summer league setup tomorrow.
Coming down to the final stretch. Here's the breakdown of where we stand ...
(I went ahead and added in $200 million for Beauty and the Beast in both leagues.)
League A
Winston
Score: 701,510,464.00
Films to come: Ghost in the Shell, The Belko Experiment, T2: Trainspotting
Lazlo
Score: 622,677,298.00
Films to come: The Zookeeper's Wife
Henry Gale
Score: 592,481,829.00 [locked]
Ezee
Score: 533,732,116.00
Films to come: The Boss Baby + last 3 weeks of Kong: Skull Island
Skitch
Score: 466,096,121.00
Films to come: round average for round 9
Duke
Score: 418,598,596.00
Films to come: Power Rangers
Even if The Boss Baby was a huge hit and Ghost in the Shell was a huge failure, I still don't see a way for anyone to catch Winston at this point.
League B
Ivan Drago
Score: 664,206,254.00 [locked]
dreamdead
Score: 658,447,355 [locked]
Spinal
Score: 607,416,664.00
Films to come: Ghost in the Shell, Life and the last 3 weeks of Kong: Skull Island
TGM
Score: 576,334,831
Films to come: The Boss Baby and round average for round 4
Gizmo
Score: 573,442,869.00
Films to come: Power Rangers
There's a little more mystery here, depending on which late March films you think will do well. Given the fact that I can probably count on another $70 million or so from Kong, it looks like I might be in good shape, considering I would have a lead on TGM and Gizmo with 2 films to their one. However, if you are a big believer in Power Rangers or The Boss Baby, then there is opportunity for Gizmo or TGM to rally, should Ghost in the Shell and Life fizzle.

Friday updates have been made. Not a whole lot of storylines, since, as you know, Beauty and the Beast dominated. This week, we'll look to see if Power Rangers can push hard enough to get Gizmo back in contention. If it does very well and Life sputters, we may have a horse race in League B.

It made being placed last in the snake draft a good position to be in. Meant I could pick up two. That plus getting lucky that no one picked Trolls earlier is the reason it looks like I'll win this. Unlike the previous round, I had a lot of terrible down the line picks. The Belko Experiment?Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

What counts as a wide release? Doesn't seem like Trainspotting's getting one. If that's the case do I just get the round average?
I'm crossing my fingers that it gets up to 200 screens Friday, which would be what it needs. I'm not sure that Skitch's rules cover the situation where a film doesn't reach 200 screens until after the season window. I'll have to double check the fine print. My instinct is that we should start counting next week regardless.Quoting Winston* (view post)
At any rate, I don't think you even need that film to finish at the top, so I'm not too stressed about it.
