    Hacksaw Ridge (Mel Gibson)

Gibson directs from a script by Andrew Knight, Robert Schenkkan, Randall Wallace.

The film tells the story of Desmond Doss, a Seventh-day Adventist who was drafted into World War II but, per his religion, refused to shoot anyone or even carry a gun at all. And though that left his arms free to dance, dance, dance, his religion discouraged him from doing that as well. It was surely a real bummer.

That's gotta be the most disappointing plot summary I've ever read. When I try to picture a movie called Hacksaw Ridge that's directed by Mel Gibson, I don't imagine it's going to be about some wimp who won't carry a gun because of his pussy religion. Unless he's going to cut up Nazis with a hacksaw. That would be awesome.
    Just because...

Petite maman (Céline Sciamma, 2021) mild

The last book I read was...

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’
