    Cutties Final Ballot 2016 - DEADLINE JULY 25TH

    So, we didn't have enough preliminary ballots to end up with a consensus, so every category will just have every nominee. That's... okay... but we really, really need lots of final votes if this is going to work.

    So, PLEASE VOTE! Remind your friends in other threads to vote! You do not need to vote in the preliminaries to vote in the finals! And you don't need to have seen every nominee to vote.

    Feel free to edit up to the deadline, as I won't be processing anything until then. Vote for one entry per category. If there's a category that doesn't interest you, just skip it. You can spoiler your votes if you want to retain a false air of mystery. No write-in nominations, please except for Best Documentary, which only had one nomination.

    The more votes we have, the better the results reflect our community and therefore the best cultural taste on the internet.

    For the "Best Opening Credits" category, you do not need to have seen the show to vote, just follow the links to YouTube and check them out.

    Deadline is in TWO WEEKS but it's not too early to start working on it! If we leave it to the last minute we might not get it done, and I can't extend the deadline because I'm heading out of state afterwards.

    Alright, nice! I'm definitely fine with this, though now in hindsight a part of me wishes I went a little more dark-horse-y with my nominations rather than trying to achieve a consensus haha..

    Aside from MINISERIES maybe being renamed MINISERIES/SPECIAL or something since 7 Days In Hell and A Very Murray Christmas are under an hour, a few more edits you might want to make, though pretty much things being listed twice:

    ]

    Oh and the opening credits for Broad City and Master of None are different every episode, which understandably makes properly linking to them kinda difficult, but it's why I nominated them.
    Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
    South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

    I don't watch a lot of this stuff. But in the interest of upping the vote total, here you go ...

    [
    ]
    Coming to America (Landis, 1988) **
    The Beach Bum (Korine, 2019) *1/2
    Us (Peele, 2019) ***1/2
    Fugue (Smoczynska, 2018) ***1/2
    Prisoners (Villeneuve, 2013) ***1/2
    Shadow (Zhang, 2018) ***
    Oslo, August 31st (J. Trier, 2011) ****
    Climax (Noé, 2018) **1/2
    Fighting With My Family (Merchant, 2019) **
    Upstream Color (Carruth, 2013) ***

    Way behind on a bunch of these shows. Like based on season 3, which I'm currently watching, I would probably nominate The Americans for something if I'd caught up.

    Same with Game of Thrones maybe, though would only consider it for acting - this show is bad.

    Minus the ability to vote for the "Hold the Door" episode of GoT, and The Girlfriend Experience since we're halfway through the first season now (and it's good slow indie-styled with a quality lead performance)...

    My thoughts in the spoiler below:
    [
    ]
    The Boat People - 9
    The Power of the Dog - 7.5
    The King of Pigs - 7

    Kinda loved that 'everything-all-in' means I help put Person of Interest in a few of these categories. Although knowing this, I sadly realize I made the mistake of forgetting and almost having PoI's Amy Ackers on the ballot as well. She'd have substitued Sophie Turner for my old ballot.

    [
    ]
    Midnight Run (1988) - 9
    The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5
    Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5

    Thanks for doing this Mara. I know it's a pain in the butt to run these. I apologize for not getting in a nomination ballot. I've been mega-swamped at work, making a candidate for next year in the Best Documentary category!
    last four:
    black widow - 8
    zero dark thirty - 9
    the muse - 7

    Thanks! I made some quick edits. I apologize; I was working off an Excel sheet and had to go super fast so I didn't catch all the duplicates. I've picked up some contractual work in addition to my regular job and it's interesting and great but I didn't anticipate how little time it would leave me. I'm so glad we're getting so many participants! Keep voting!

    Some cross-forum promotion, in case you haven't wandered over to the movies side recently:

    I'm tallying votes for the 2015 Matchies over in General Film Discussion. Here's a link to a Google Form where you can vote! Deadline is 11:59pm EST Monday.

    You don't have to have submitted a ballot for the nomination process to vote in the finals.

    Ah damn, I was away for a bit and totally forgot about submitting in time. Still any chance of adding to the votes?
