Cutties Preliminary Ballot Thread - EXTENDED DEADLINE JULY 4TH

Ballots are due JUNE 30TH. Nothing will be considered final until the deadline, so feel free to toss around thoughts and lobby and edit and re-edit.

As before, you do not need to vote in every category, and you do not have to have seen every show to vote.

Please only vote in a category if you have three nominees, and limit yourselves to five maximum. Please read the notes below the list! I'm separating the notes so you can copy and paste the categories.

    BEST COSTUMES

    NOTES

*Short Form have episodes that are <30 minutes long, and long form is >40 minutes.

*I strongly recommend posting a bunch of YouTube videos of opening credits in case people aren't watching the shows but should be aware of good credit sequences.

*"Guest star" is someone who is in 1-3 episodes. But this is also a matter of your best judgment instead of a hard-and-fast rule.

*"Best Episode" can be any episode that aired after June 1st 2015, even if that season itself is not eligible. This is to honor episodes that otherwise would be ignored. Feel free to raise flags on episodes you don't think people should overlook.

*Please, so important: when putting an episode on your ballot, put it like this:

    Show, "Episode Title"

You'd be amazed how much trouble that would save. Also, please don't abbreviate show titles (GOT, P&R, etc.) because it causes problems with my spreadsheet.

*For best episode categories only, you can have up to ten nominees.

*For "Cancelled Too Soon" only you can have a minimum of one nominee, and up to five.

And, for convenience, here is a list of eligible seasons and shows:

    [
    ]

NOTE: I don't see anything on the eligibility list for "Documentary" but I am sure they are out there. Please feel free to vote for anything that you know qualifies.

Here are some opening credits to consider (either shows that are new or underseen)

    The Path:

Outlander: (There were two versions of the credits this season, I prefer the "France" one)

I assume everyone's feverishly working on this on their own time, but reminder that we have one more week for preliminary ballots! I'm hoping to have mind up in a day or two.

Probably my own fault that I was so busy I hadn't participated in the previous thread, but we can only do ballot with stuff from that spoiler tag, right? So no Person of Interest?

    The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
    Sisters (1973) - 6.5

As long as it qualifies, it's fine to use! The spoiler tag is just a handy list to help people remember.

Though some quick googling shows that this season of Person of Interest (6) will actually qualify for the Cutties next year.

I forgot to include "Best Miniseries" as a category. Fixed.

As for acting/costumes/etc. I think it would be fine to include those in the long-form narrative, right? Like you could nominate Oscar Isaac from Show Me a Hero for best actor. Does that make sense to everyone? Or should we not break those down?

Aye yi yi, I'm never going to watch all the shows I want to in time for nominations, but I'm hoping enough of them get nominated for me to then narrow things down.

    Either way, still working away!

Oh for sure. I mean, I wouldn't go as far as the TCA's did in nominating someone like Samantha Bee alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus (since to me that's just too different), but as long as it's the same discernible category as those examples. Best Episodes are a gray area but if it's notable enough, why not?

I don't think it'll be a big deal outside of Drama acting since there's not a lot of comedy mini/limited series going on, really.

Recency syndrome: Alison Wright disappeared from so much of season 4 of The Americans that I neglected her magnificent sendoff, thinking somehow that it was the prior season. Added in some Outlander love as well, since we're into Season 2 and have also started The Girlfriend Experience. Hopefully that'll show up here as I continue past the first episode.

Hmmm. We don't have enough ballots.

If I extend the deadline to Monday, July 4th (the end of the long holiday) are there 3-4 more people who would put a ballot in? There's no way to get a consensus with what we have so far.
