    Curb Your Enthusiasm

Last night, I finished watching season 5. The reality of the show continues to distort beyond real world recognition, but that happened with Seinfeld round about season 4 or 5 as well, so whatever. The show's wearing it well.

I'll begin season 6 this week. I can't wait. If the show stays this strong through season six, it could very well be the best American comedy series I've ever seen.

Leon is my favorite character in the entire series. I love how the Black's call him LD.

Netflix finally got me season six yesterday and I immediately plowed through the first four episodes. I actually screamed at Larry a few times to not do what he was doing, specifically with Funkhouser's flowers. My God, the show really is at its best when it's closest to a horror movie.

And, yes, the Blacks are great. Leon's speech about getting in someone's ass was pretty great. Pretty, pretty great.

I used to love this show, but season 5 seemed like a significant regression as the show became too comfortable in its own skin and began spinning its wheels. Watching Larry do that stare-down thing of his isn't funnier the 60th time than it was the first 59 times. I didn't sense any inspiration, so I gave up after a few episodes. Maybe I'll give it another shot someday, but for now, only the first four seasons exist for me.

I think each season gets progressively better.

Although, I wonder how they are going to top season 6?

Where this show can go from season six, I have no idea. But I'm so glad it got there. That was amazing.

However, Larry David continues to amaze me with the direction he's been taking this show. Season 2 is probably still my overall favorite, but the show continues to find new ways to improve things. And if L.D. believes he can make a season seven, eight, or whatever out of this show, he has my absolute trust.

I watched this show for the first time a week ago, when there was a marathon of season 3 on HBO Signature. Season 4 is on right now, and it's already funnier than 3, although I don't know if [

I've started watching this show from the start. Watched episodes here and there but missed most of them on their original run. Finished the first season the other night, hilarious stuff, best episode: Interior Decorator.

Yeah, like Seinfeld, I've only seen this show randomly. Consistently hilarious, and while I know there's an ongoing story when he goes to be on The Producers, I have no idea if there's a running storyline through the other seasons.

I hear Scorsese is on one episode. I should see that one.

You should, it's one of the best ones. "Can we get Larry some more money, please?"

Yeah, I like this show so damn much that it gets to the (selfish) point where I wouldn't mind if Larry David just kept churning out season after season. So many gems to be found across the series. The only significantly flimsy note it ever really hit was that strange fifth season finale.

the first season i saw was 4, earlier this month. i started watching season 1 yesterday; the difference in tone was kind of startling. it's weird how larry went from being one of many grotesqueries in a singularly petty and myopic upperclass hell, to being the show's sole, lovable asshole.

Not as awesome as the news PlashyBubbler posted, but awesome nonetheless.

More info on the upcoming season from Larry himself here.

    And there's also this interview:

THE SKINNY: At the HBO TCAs, Larry David let us know that the long-awaited SEINFELD reunion show will indeed take place ... but only in the realm of the upcoming season of CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM.

“The cast members will be playing themselves on CURB, We’ll see writing and rehearsals,” David says. “You’re not going to see a SEINFELD show from beginning to end, but you’ll see parts of the show.”

Big news indeed and this reunion will take place scattered through the season. The cast will be on five shows but all four won’t be on all five shows. Jerry Seinfeld, however, will be on all five episodes, the rest will be on at least four, David says.

The season finale may be an hour long and will be about the reunion show, David says. And why do it now? “That will be answered in one of the episodes,” David says.

David also answered a number of questions relating to the upcoming season including: Is there any chance that the reunion will be any good?
”Yeah, you mean as opposed to the [SEINFELD series] finale (laughing)?” David says. “No, its good. I think the reunion is pretty good.”

On wouldn’t his character ruin it so it wouldn’t be good?
“He might (laughing),” David says. “Yeah, my guy might consider wrecking something like that. We'll see what happens.”

Will we see the Michael Richards debacle discussed?
    ”It's possible.”

Did Larry eat with the cast when they decided to do the reunion or did he just show up on set?
“I showed up on the set. I did meet with Jerry and went over all the SEINFELD script material. We got together and wrote that part.”

Hi thoughts on the SEINFELD finale?
    ”Excellent show.”

His thoughts on people who didn’t like it?
    ”Morons.”

    Is Cheryl back this year?
”Cheryl is back in it. Rosie O’Donnell was hilarious on the show. Shes on episode five and she’s a riot. Let me tell you something, she’s a force. She’s very formidable physically.”
