No. Absolutely not.
Jeremy Lin apparently too. he hasn't been relevant for years I thought.
A quick glance at Wikipedia shows him as back from a period of injuries and playing quite well now.
Whoa, if they also get Vince Carter, this movie can be LinSanity AND Vince-Sanity all at once!Quoting Ezee E (view post)

Ha. Directed by Justin Lin. OOPS.
Still half the player he was when he was on the Knicks. 11 PPG and 3 assists a game.
Linsanity is directing this??Quoting Ezee E (view post)
Edit: damn. You caught it.
It's actually Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Only way to even attempt to compete with the original movie's soundtrack.

No God please no.
But if it sucks, I'll always have the original.

Justin Lin has made a career of making slick, well-executed, crowd-pleasing nonsense. Space Jam is nonsense. Everyone was applauding LeBron's comic acting in Trainwreck. This makes perfect sense.
Note: I have no emotional attachment to the original. The most it ever engaged me was an afternoon a few years back where I listened to a bunch of silly theme song mixes on YouTube and the first time someone showed me the old Space Jam website was still up.
Okay, I thought it over and the last two Furious movies Lin directed are awesome, and Star Trek Beyond looks no different. Plus LeBron was one of the best parts of Trainwreck for me. I'll give this the benefit of the doubt even though my inner child wants to deny its existence.
That said, nothing beats the classic early 90s jock jams in the original. I fear for what may be on the soundtrack to this.

If this goes into principal photography this year, you can rest assured that "My House" by Flo Rida will appear, at the very least, in the trailer.
Anticipate a pseudo-ironic, kitschy cover/remix/spiritual sequel to the original's theme song by someone who is in the Billboard top 20 in the next 3 months.
This isn't about music, but I think we can safely assume we'll have yet another motherfucking Matrix freeze-rotation action joke during a basketball scene.
Ahaha goddammit. I just watched this again a couple of weeks ago. Still can't believe they got The King of Hoops!Quoting Winston* (view post)
I also like to think him being in the new Twin Peaks was a direct result of Lynch stumbling upon this online.

Im genuinely surprised MC cares at all about Spacejam. :/
A theoretical question no true cinephile has ever posed before this moment.Quoting Skitch (view post)
I started watching it on Netflix recently on a whim and I was stunned at just how much my memory had preserved it almost beat for beat. My mind was almost humming along to each line of dialogue, music cue and sound effect like it was one of those songs from childhood you're not sure why you know every word to (except it makes total sense and is way better because it's Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes playing basketball together in space). I was going to say it was ingrained in my brain and played "like a classic album" but it has one of those too.
I wasn't sure if I was still impressed that it played so perfectly because it actually objectively did or because it simply did so much to shape my view how the language of movies should look and rhythmically feel at a young age and simply remains etched there. (Maybe both?) Toy Story and Beauty & the Beast are exactly the same deal for me.

Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden long ago removed any need I would have for this. Hell, the second chapter of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa is even (well, maybe) coming out this year!

Ryan Coogler To Produce ‘Space Jam 2’; Terence Nance To Direct LeBron
If you had said Ryan Coogler was directing, that would've been amazing.
number8 had something similar to say on Twitter, but this is definitely as good an opportunity as any to get everyone to watch Terence Nance's phenomenal Random Acts of Flyness on HBO.
Also, since I can't imagine Coogler being involved in something without Michael B. Jordan at this point, I don't even feel like I need to start a petition to have him play Michael "Air" Jordan's grown-up son from the first one (who, if I remember correctly, is the only one of the kids who interacted with the Tunes!).. It writes itself.
