Roommate got a note from Netflix today - they're going to try and make it an Oscar contender.
It's out/up/posted/delivered to our senses from the cloud! (and in old fashioned theatres too..)
Saw it on Netflix in the wee hours of last night, but wasn't up for it then (both awakeness-wise and emotionally, opted for the Nathan For You premiere instead).
Hope to watch it really soon though. After only making it a few episodes into Season 2, a recent re-watch of True Detective's first season proved that Fukunaga's work was just as masterful as I remembered, particularly with episodes 4 and 5. Beyond just the characters, the performances, the setting and the overall atmosphere, the humour got me the most this time around. Not expecting that in Beasts, though.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:
Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
Diva (Beineix, 1981)
Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)
Excellent film. It cleary outshines in quality most of this year's theatrically released Oscar bait.
