Does Mommy count? Figured it was 2014.

Ex-Machina, It Follows, Montage of Heck, and Mommy are really the only ones I've enjoyed.

It's one of those weird ones. Had a fall run at the festivals but it didn't hit actual theaters until late January. I also had it on my 2014 list, but I'll keep it here too.

Feels pretty lightweight. The stuff I like below, I like a lot, but I guess this is a year I have an even bigger backlog of things I'm interested in than usual, and TIFF, awards season-geared stuff, and even promising late-year tentpoles are all still around the corner. Either way, as of now:

    1. The Look of Silence (Oppenheimer)
    2. Mad Max: Fury Road (Miller)
    3. Ex Machina (Garland)
    4. World of Tomorrow (Hertzfeldt)
    5. It Follows (Mitchell)
    6. Kingsman: The Secret Service (Vaughn)
    7. Inside Out (Docter)
    8. What We Do In The Shadows (Clement/Waititi)
    9. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (McQuarrie)
    10. Avengers: Age of Ultron (Whedon)

Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
