Watashi, thank you. Massive rep.
Folks, he's not lying. One of the very few works of art deserving of the "Best Thing Ever" tag.
Amazing.
Brilliant.

Not yet, but I've been meaning to. Have heard great things.

This was certainly and may improve on a re-viewing before the month-long rental expires. A lot of the Hertzfeldtian humor remains there--both the letter and the poem are dryly hilarious--and several different sequences have real resonance. I'm partial to Emily's visitations to the clone, and how she keeps trying to scan and understand David's interest in the step-walking.
I need to think about it some more, but there's a way in which Bill's obliviousness made several sequences in It's Such a Beautiful Day resonate all the more, and here Emily's innocence seemed to operate at more of a counterpoint from what adult Emily was telling her than I expected it to. In that respect, I feel like it doesn't quite achieve as strong of an impact.

I knew the voice of Emily Prime was courtesy of Hertzfeldt's niece, but I didn't know this:

Did a rewatch of this, and a few of my admittedly small reservations slid away. My main regret with this during the first viewing was how Emily Prime's naivete undoes a teensy bit of the pathos. On some level, there's little difference between her plucky skipping away at the end, oblivious to much of what she's experienced, and Bill's similar lack of understanding in It's Such a Beautiful Day. But this time through that contrast worked more as a counterpoint than as an undercutting.
Several scenes retained their cunning humor, but some of Emily's attempts to understand the mundane beauty of walking down a path, and the viewers gazing upon screens upon screens, had more power this time through.

Masterpiece.
I am impatient of all misery in others that is not mad. Thou should'st go mad, blacksmith; say, why dost thou not go mad? How can'st thou endure without being mad? Do the heavens yet hate thee, that thou can'st not go mad?

As a huge fan of stick figures, 10/10.
“World of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People’s Thoughts” premiered at Fantastic Fest 2017 after an Oscar-qualifying run in Los Angeles. It will presumably be released later this year.
