Heh, I loved Simon's backpedalling at the end. I guess he checked the DialIdol results before heading to the Nokia.Quoting Spinal (view post)
On another note, I nearly fell off the couch when I realized that it was David Cook in that Risky Buisness Guitar Hero commercial. I'm also immensely glad that I seem to have missed the Archie version.
Oh my goodness! I fast-forwarded all those commercials. Not sure that I want to see that.Quoting Ashley (view post)

Yo...the Jonas Brothers or whoever those idiots were? I've never wanted to throw a grenade at a teenager before, but I really would like to blow these assholes up.

I can't believe they made them sing a Nickelback song. If I was David Cook, I would stay as far away from Nickelback as possible.

I think 85% of last night's show was an embedded commercial.
And that's not counting the actual commercials, which were 100% commercials.

Yeah, Daughtry, aka Brooding Nickelback, has already covered that terrain. I'd like to see Cook go the route of a Jeff Buckley, though his vocal range may not be quite that impressive, but he definitely could hit the falsetto when necessary.Quoting Spinal (view post)

I found out that was actually Cook's suggestion. Apparently, they had an even lamer song for the Davids to sing.Quoting Spinal (view post)
George Michael was in competition with the Jonas Brothers for worst performance of the night. His singing voice is almost entirely gone. Simon normally would've said something like "old-fashioned" or "it bored me to tears". The contestants just got done singing "Freedom", and you come back with "Praying for Time"? Carrie Underwood gave a better performance of the same song on the Idol Gives Back show.

I seriously can't believe they made the Davids waste time on that ridiculous promo on top of everything else they must have had to do this week. Three songs for Tuesday's show, I believe they were both in five numbers on Wednesday's, plus learning the actual coronation song, and I suppose they had to squeeze in the Guitar Hero commercial at some point too.Quoting rocus (view post)
Jason Castro would have been totally screwed had he made it that far.
Going to be interesting to see how this plays out with the blind contestant. Has a good voice, plays an instrument ... seems to be the early leader.
Hurrah for the new judge who is refreshingly coherent and also kinda hot. Don't know why they kept Paula, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Yes, it did. He told him beforehand that he was going to do it, but it didn't make it any less awkward.Quoting Russ (view post)

They've really made an effort to respond to criticisms of the show this year. Very interesting that they talked about the contestant's prior record deal right there in the audition and got it out of the way. Seemed kind of set up, but still, smart.

Having a much more difficult time getting into the show this year. I will say one thing: thank gawd for DVR. Adding a fourth judge, and one who takes forever to form a coherent thought, is really a time-eater and an annoyance. You have Paula who acts like she's on 10 valium, Randy with his yo-yo-yo dawg, and now this Kara chick who is simply awkward. It takes forever to get to Simon. Love the fast forward.

I also really liked the last girl (I still don't know their names), more than the judges anyway. I also am kind of hoping we can just get the blind guy off as soon as possible. He's nowhere near the most talented and every week it will just be awkward to see if America can kick the disabled man off the show.
