Superstar by Lupe Fiasco Feat. Matthew Santos.

Seriously the best single out right now. Can't wait for Lupe's new album next month.

Heh, that's the only song I really like off either album as well.

Nice. I was really surprised by it after being pretty much nothing but annoyed by all the other stuff I heard by her. It was nice actually hearing something resembling a pleasing melody and flow with lyrics that I not only could understand, but appreciate. The production is also a lot less cluttered.

And to mirror the other half of your post, I'm coincidentally listening to "All Is Full Of Love" by Björk (the video/single version).

    La Campanella - Liszt

It pisses me off watching these little 15 year-olds playing this on youtube perfectly while I can't even play the first page.

Great band. I prefer Grandeur of Hair to Between the Dead, though. They have such a compellingly sleazy sound. Sleaze-gaze, perhaps? Let's hope that catches on.

    _______

The Somethings - "Le Monde Infernal"

I like both albums about the same, with a slight preference for Between which I thought was a bit more consistent, sans "Seed" which drags down the middle of the album. I don't what kinda music it - part noise, part shoegaze, part metal and part I don't know what the hell it is, but I agree it's compelling stuff.

Lodi-CCR. One of the best songs about the trials and tribulations of being a musician. And also a reflection on how things probably went before CCR got big as well. I like the song's simplicity-something that is beautifully and profoundly part of their music as a whole.

The first time I've really heard Mary Wilson's vocals front and center--and as much as I like Diana I now understand why it's so tragic Mary got the short end of the stick.

"Criticism can be monumentally creative, of course, at times highly artistic, highly personal. But it rarely relates to the work of art being assessed. It is an expression of the critic's own subjectivity." -Joyce Carol Oates, Journals
