They make some good pop music. Live they aren't that great though.

So, Judgement Hour, by Tear Garden, is such an incredible song. It's one of those songs that has quickly become one of my favorites. The production is excellent, the beat is simply and groovy, and Edward Ka-Spel's vocals are brilliant.

Man Rowland, I'm really glad we talked about this band last night, it's nice to be listening to them again. Although, I am not thrilled with their newest album at all. It's really lacking in the melody department, something that Tear Garden usually excels at.

Confield is their most ageless album, probably because it's the most alien. It's my favorite of theirs too.

I'm not a huge raving mad fan of Dylan, so I'm surprised that I'm enjoying this guy's blatant fascimile of his mid-60's electric period so much.

Haven't gotten into that one yet. I d/l'ed it a few years ago, gave it a few listens but decided it'd never really click with me and then deleted it. I'll give it another go sometime, but for now I think LP5 and EP7 (for the most part) are where they find the perfect balance between avant-garde beats and their unique brand of wistful, fragile melodocism.

"Pir" from EP7 might be my favorite track of theirs.

Yeah, there is hardly any overt melodicism in Confield. It's all about texture. EP7 is kinda crap, but it has a few good tracks. Pir... is that the last track?

On my way to work today, I listened to all of Neutral Milk Hotel's "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea." It's been too long since I've done that.

Yeah, it's the last one. I should've amended what I said in my previous post: EP7 would be crappy did it not have several astounding tracks that elevate it to 'pretty good' ("Maphive 7.0" and "Rpeg" are the other two).

Hmm, so you've never heard it before. As a former hardcore fan of the duo, I wonder which albums of theirs you've listened to?
