Still one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard. This live version captures it so well.

    The Boat People - 9
The Power of the Dog - 7.5
The King of Pigs - 7

There's some great stuff in that list! I in particular have been on a Talk Talk kick lately. Such an underappreciated band. The Party's Over is killer from top to bottom.

And Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs is, IMHO, the greatest western album ever recorded. Only thing that comes close is Ennio Morricone's film score work.

I'm really into the soundtrack to Poll Mine, one of the games in Jackbox Party Pack 8, of all things. The low-key Police vibes put me in a pleasantly mellow mood.

Chill. Sounds like a Mac DeMarco cover band.

    Glad you like it.
And now, for something completely different: some very good Swedish power metal from Lost Horizon, a short-lived band from the '00s. Daniel Heiman is a heck of a vocalist.

When I become President, this song is going to replace Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the 7th Inning Stretch of all Major League baseball games, with the following additional stipulations:

    • The song will be sung not between but during the innings, when the ball is in play, performed live by Viagra Boys frontman Sebastian Murphy.
    • If Sebastian happens to get hit with an errant baseball, everyone gets a free tattoo of Sebastian's choice.
    • If Sebastian happens to get beaned with an errant baseball, everyone gets a free taco as well as a free tattoo.

Anyone wishing to know more about my presidential platform may consult my presidential exploratory committee, which consists of my wife and two pembroke welsh corgis.

New Kendrick Lamar, new Radiohead (kinda), and all I'm listening to is this song:

"Of all the ways to eat a cake, this one surely takes the knife." Love that.

If you're into Dungeon Synth, check out DIM's 2022 release, Steeped Sky, Stained Light. Here's one of my favorites on it:

I'm going through album boxsets of music acts that I keep getting at Half-Price Books. Right now I'm enjoying Stone Temple Pilots' first five albums, with the second one being my favorite of the bunch.
