New Liars on the horizon. Lead single dropped. Can't wait.
An ode to '70s style jazz. Could see this being very enjoyable and mellow...

I've never liked Pharrell, but this is such a unique sound it's hard not to like. The other bits of the album I heard did nothing for me. So, I still don't like Pharrell but this song is cool.
So good. Very early in 2014, but this should be a contender for AOTY come December.Quoting slqrick (view post)
Can't get enough of the War on Drugs album. Seeing them Saturday. Full disclosure: a friend of mine is in their touring band. Can't wait.
This has been getting a lot of play from me lately. Only The War on Drugs's newest rivals it. The layers of melody and variation of musical styles is what most impresses me. And that moment at 2:00 in is just grin-inducing. Combines the craft and dedication of Agalloch with a focus on post-rock, black metal, instrumental, ambient, and so many other soundscapes. Absolutely bonkers and wonderful for that.

I was wondering what Howard Dean's been up to.Quoting dreamdead (view post)
I do really like everything else going on though. I just wish so much metal wasn't ruined absolutely ludicrous vocals.
Yeah, this one doesn't bury the vocals the way something like Woods of Desolation did. That said, there's enough musical talent on display (especially the last two tracks, or track six) that I think it still affirms its quality to those who can't acclimate to black metal shrieks. It reminds me of Ocean's Pelagial, which was released in a double vocal and vocal-less edition so that those who didn't appreciate metal vocals could still groove to the music.Quoting Derek (view post)
Meantime, super-excited by your Swans rating. Trying to set up our summer schedule to hit them up in St. Louis in June, and this encourages me to make that happen all the more...

Love when a new Pharaoh Monche sneaks up on me. This shit is really good, y'all.
Nice. Didn't even know about it. He was from Main Source, right?Quoting slqrick (view post)
Doyeq returns to the sounds of deep house, and even though he's been away from the genre for a few years, he's still got it.
