I do like Blomkamp though.
I'd want Joe Kosinski or Matt Reeves.
I'm with the direction E's suggesting. It should be a horror director instead of a sci-fi director.
Movie Theater DiaryQuoting Donald Glover
Cameron's take was pretty great.
The more I think about it, the happier I am a sci-fi guy is taking on this project. Look at Fincher's take. Very confined space, not much added evolution to the universe. IT's basically a remake of the first film. Scott's was obviously very confined as well, though I think his is the most beautiful and if you add Prometheus to the list you can see how Scott has improved his craft over the years.
Cameron was a sci-fi guy and he expanded on so much inside the Alien universe. We got a look at new weapons, new vehicles, the moon base, there's multiple different set pieces, there's humor and plenty of horror elements. My favorite being when Newt is under the floor and Ripley is trying to blowtorch her way through. The scene with the Alien coming up out of the water was great. Then of course there's the "Get away from her you bitch" scene. Then you have the escaped face hugger in the room. "They're inside the room" scene. Lots of great horror.
I'd rather the director expand on this Universe more, open it up, show us what else there is as far as technology goes. This is still a sci-fi horror movie.
Because if you're going to do another escaped Alien on ship again you might as well just do Saw 9.

"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
If you want the worst dialog ever in your Alien movie yes pick Adam Wingard.
Didn't you love The Guest?Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
No. I started watching it on Sunday and turned it off half way through. I'll finish it eventually.
Oh, I misremembered.
Well, his two movies have been two of the smartest written movies of each of their respective years, so I will have to kindly disagree.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Matt Reeves directed a horror flick...
I didn't like Let Me In at all but Cloverfield was the bomb.
Pretty scary too.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Maybe you were thinking of me, meg. I thought The Guest had great dialogue. Especially the death scene and the last line.

Apparently Blomkamp wants to ignore Alien 3 and Resurrection completely and set this directly after Aliens.
Terrible fucking idea.

I thought that was apparent from the art showing Michael Biehn.Quoting transmogrifier (view post)
And why is it a terrible idea?
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

Because he's a fan of Fincher's version.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
I dont mind it actually. It's a new take on the franchise. We have two spider-man franchises. We're going to have 2 Terminator franchises. We can have Two Alien Franchises.
I'm a huge fan of Fincher's film too and it doesn't make me hate this idea at all.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Because those movies happened, and Ripley had a fitting sending off in Alien 3. To create a whole different ending by just pretending half of the franchise didn't happen is lazy and dumb. Let the quadrilogy be its own thing instead of fucking around with it.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

Isn't it possibly they'll simply shoehorn this new movie inbetween Aliens and Alien 3? From the vantage point of Blomkamp and others they won't necessarily have to come out and say Alien 3 never happened. It can still happen, but now we have a stop-gap.Quoting transmogrifier (view post)
Although I admit I'm not entirely clear on what happened between Aliens and Alien 3. Was it just a few years of hypersleep? If they find a way to explain why the hypersleep was interrupted, then The Ripley from this new movie may very well end up at Fiorina Fury later on. Although the continuity would be disrupted by age issues.

I agree with trans. Though if they're making Aliens 2.5, I would be okay with that. Could open up how an a facehugger got on the lifepod to begin Alien 3.
We know who put the facehugger on the lifepod. It was Bishop.
I think he should ignore the quadrilogy and use his film to tie in Prometheus with Aliens vs Predator: Requiem!
