Got the "why the f have I not listened to this/obsessed over this before" feeling almost immediately when first listening to HCTWJ. "Baby's on Fire" and "Some of Them are Old" are my favorites for now. Surprised by how accessible the album is. I was pulled right in.

The ambient stuff was pretty much how I imagined. However, I was not aware about the glam rock stuff that he did. I'll definitely listen to more. I just ran out of time this week.

Zappa's discography scares me. The guy was prolific. I'll have to check out some Eno.

I'm with Spinal in that I was not aware of the glam rock stuff (I've been a fan of Before and After Science for a while now; that album seems a lot more subdued than HCTWJ). Also, for some reason, I though Eno would be putting out ambient music from the very start, so listening to HCTWJ was quite a surprising experience. Love the melodies, the vocals, the ENERGY and the experimentation. Will listen to more definitely, although I have a feeling I'll be more taken with albums in the HCTWJ glam/art rock camp.

A big tip of the hat to my bud Daniel, for making the absolute right call on these two releases that I had shunned for no good reason (well, to be honest, probably because the idea of outside vocals was a turn-off to me).

I was stunned by the level of song composition on the Byrne collaboration (even more so upon learning that David wrote the lyrics over musical tracks that Brian had given him). The results were simply sublime. Byrne's maturation as both a singer and songwriter was never more evident than on this release.

As far as the Holland collaboration goes (I purchased the 2 CD version after sampling snippets of a few of the vocal tracks), I'm listening exclusively to the instrumental version for the time being (and it's breathtakingly awesome). I want to have it indelibly etched in memory before I give the spoken word tracks a go. I think it will only amplify my appreciation of an approach of which I was not initially enamored.

Finally, I just today received Making Space, Eno's gorgeous release from Lumen London (for 77 Million Paintings). The music is lovely and the packaging is exquisite. Highly recommended.

This is from Eno's brand spanking new album, The Ship. It's a cover of the Lou Reed/Velvet Underground song from 1969 - 47 years ago!

Dude is pushing 70, and he's still making gorgeous music like this. Amazing!
