    Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Season 2)

Fun start. I love watching the team behave more like spies. Still all about the MacGuffins again, though, so nothing substantial to get excited about yet. Some thoughts I had while watching:

    - Seeing the Howling Commandos again is such a treat. I hope Neal McDonough shows up often in Agent Carter.

    - Called the Simmons thing almost immediately. [
    ]

    - Crazy how much better Brett Dalton is at playing creepy than playing Squarejaw Goodguy.

    - Legit laughed out loud at Coulson's impersonation of Talbot.

    - Reed Diamond is the man. Marvel continues to mine more recent characters rather than the classics. I can't believe we're already at a point where a Jonathan Hickman creation gets a live action portrayal.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Best episode of the series. I was entertained every single moment.

Also adding so many to main cast is a great idea. This show needs more people and it's great to see so many good actors I've liked in other things.

Well. This episode had be genuinely upset at one point and terribly anxious at another. Apparently I became emotionally invested in this show without realizing it.

Yeah, terrific episode. The changes they've made to Fitz, Simmons, Ward, and Skye aren't just a fresh makeover, they're a tenfold improvement on how those characters were in the first season.

I am totally into this. The team is getting great, the story lines are totally intriguing. The biggest misfire characters last year (Ward and Skye) are both fascinating this season. Mack and Trip need more fleshing out, but other than that I'm totally on board with these characters.

And this arc is perfect: answered a bunch of questions so we don't feel strung along, but opened up an intriguing new direction.

"Sebastian" is totally Bobby from Cougar Town and I am having trouble calling him anything but Bobby and I am also not finding him super scary as a result.

If it turns out this show shares a universe with Dollhouse I will be so happy. We can bring over Topher. And Adelle. I can totally see the Rossum Corporation being a front for Hydra.

Another terrific ep. Streak continues. Even the dialogue felt like it stepped up this ep, a bit impressed by that.

Ward's story, holy shit. That entire subplot kept me off my feet the whole time it was playing out this ep, not knowing where it was going. The news story twist is just WTF.

Kyle McLachlan is kinda amazing in this. Might be my favorite role of his since Twin Peaks. Loved the CG deaging in the flashback making him look like he did in Blue Velvet.

A waste of Dichen Lachman, though, in such a mute role. Hopefully she'll show up again in flashbacks in the future.

They basically all but said in this ep that it's definitely about Inhumans. The myth building is getting very intriguing. I love the heck out of the villian threeway set up at the end.

    My thoughts:

    Ahhh DICHEN LACHMAN YESSSSSS!

Why would you bring in Dichen Lachman to just cry and struggle?

    Nooooooooooooooooo Dichen Lachman!

    ***

Other than that; pretty good. If Ward really did just kill his brother and his parents, that is a really dark note to just throw away.

    Where is brother Thomas?

I'm 6 episodes in and it's been pretty bad. When does it get good?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

It's been great. So I don't know what you're talking about. I mean there's only been 8 episodes.

    The first season?

There was literally a line in the pilot where the bad guy said something like: "This is an origin story". I almost spit my coffee out and I wasn't even drinking any.

And the whole Skye subplot so far has been really eyesrolling worthy. Although I'll put up with her as long as there is an episode every now and then with her in her underwear.

Okay, well, you're posting in the Season 2 thread where we all said to skip ahead to Season 2 and don't bother with Season 1.

I figured it was better to ask questions in the most active thread rather than to bump an old thread. So I should skip season 1 entirely?

The first season gets good about 3/4 of the way in, but the general consensus is that it's not worth the build up. The second season has been very solid, though.

This applies tp other character as well.

Otherwise, this episode killed it. They are not afraid of moving this plot forward.

Great stufffff. It's interesting that the obelisk, the city, Skye and her dad's identity all end up being the obvious answers that most Marvel fans guessed, but whatever. They nailed that plotline, and the last half of this ep was genuinely thrilling.

Also, seriously, again, what a get McLachlan is. He's just terrific in this.

3 eps into s1 and I'm not against what I'm seeing. It's fast, colorful, there's some easygoing chemistry, Gregg can really anchor a show, he's great and hilarious, the various references to Marvel's universe are cool to have, but I'm stupefied that there's 21 more episodes of...this. Nowadays, with all the good/great shows being 10-13, 24 seems unending given the lack of an overarching (so far) storyline.

Has the 24-episode season been played out? Isn't any show better off sticking to 10-13 episodes? Seems like a considerably lesser challenge to actually ensure the whole season will rock.

So 21 more. Will ride it out. But fuck. 21 more to go.
