    Nothing for this one yet?

The pilot directed by Del Toro was solid, but damn if this ain't just dopey in spots. They keep teasing that Kevin Durand is going to start kicking all sorts of backside, but nothing yet.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Mediocre & completely uninteresting save for the curiously of Stahl's wig & the energy around Durland's ratcatcher.

They shoved bunch of horror tropes into a single show and the end result is slick and professional but joyless.

I'm repping you for this because these are also my favorite parts of the series so far. Well done, Irish.
"We eventually managed to find them near Biskupin, where demonstrations of prehistoric farming are organized. These oxen couldn't be transported to anywhere else, so we had to built the entire studio around them. A scene that lasted twenty-something seconds took us a year and a half to prepare."

 I think the wig should get separate billing.

Durland's character is odd because so far he's out of pace with everybody else. It's like the show's energy level noticeably ticks up during his scenes. Forget all the parasitic vampire stuff, I'd like to see a show about just him doing that job.

Finally got through the second episode. (Fell asleep first time. My fault, not its.)

I like bits and pieces of it quite a bit, but there are just sooo many threads packed into it. All I could think was, "Too many notes!" when we were jumping from Stoll's investigation, to his relationship to Maestro's character, to him visiting his ex-wife and son, straight to his AA meeting, with scenes of different infected people's subplots, and Durand, and not-bald Weevil's family, and then the box monster and the Evil Vampire Corporation connected to it, all padding between each other without much in common (yet).

Hopefully these things all come together more naturally later, but right now it just seems like a lot of independently interesting and specifically toned things being forced together for 40 minutes at a time. When it's fun though, it's worth it.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

Renewed for Season 2, so at least my trepidations about keeping up with it in that way are gone.
