Again, not trying to be condescending, just trying to understand...do you think that Roku is only a smartTV setup? Do you know there is a roku box you hook up to any tv that is capable of downloading new stuff? I totally believe the rokuTVs probably dont do that and agree its lame, but the boxes download loads of free stuff.
Are you talking about channels or something else? AFAIK the platform is the same regardless if it comes pre-installed or from the box/stick.

    And it suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks.

Very helpful. Thanks everyone. I have to say the 55" TCL 5-series is pretty tempting at $449.

Wow really? Maybe I'm clueless about these techs? I have 3 rokus and we love em. I'm not sure what you guys mean by ads? There are tons of free apps that show loads of stuff that come with ads, but I'm okay with ads on free services. It boggles my mind that anyone would pay for stuff like Hulu and still have to see ads.

^ The ad on the right rotates every time you load the home screen. Usually it's channel/ movie/ tv related, but not always. You cannot remove these ads without blocking them at the network level.

^ Last year they added "My Offers" to the main menu. Notice how this is positioned above "Settings." In order to change the platform defaults, you need to scroll past the "Offers" tab and load its content. Right now it's filled with sales for Roku's own shit, but obviously that can change.

They've also placed banner ads at the bottom of menus, although from what I've seen this is rare.

If that's tempting, what is a 65 inch at $229?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Oh thats what you mean?? Dude that really bothers you? lol. What bothers me is the ads I'm forced to sit through on youtube and stuff like that. You can just scroll right by that stuff. I never even notice them. But to each their own, I have even dumber stuff that boils my blood, so I'm not one to talk.

Criterions followed by Xmas presents for the fam.
    Blog!

    And it's happened once again
    I'll turn to a friend
    Someone that understands
And sees through the master plan
    But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own
Well, I guess this is growing up

TCL 55" 6-series 4k QLED Dolby Vision HDR TV. Great reviews across the board. Happy holidays to me.

Every time someone posts something cool, I'm just going to literally post the last thing I bought.

Enjoy it. Though I should say the reviews all seem to state that at that price something is going to be sacrificed, usually in the area of visual fidelity, motion Handling, HDR implementation. You might not notice though, especially if this is your first smart tv. Although I believe a side by side comparison would likely bring out some differences. Still could be a bargain at that price so enjoy.

Yeah, I didn't completely splurge for OLED. I considered it for a moment, but my living room has a lot of windows and I'm a little scared of burn-in. So I saved $1000.

Two pounds of wild caught red Argentinian shrimp. I’ll be damned if I’m munching on pre cooked shrimp on New Years.

It was brutal harvesting them from the full service counter.

I might go smelting on the North Shore (northern Minnesota).

If I went to Argentina, I’d be disappearing for a few weeks hunting.
