Love, love, LOVED The Conjuring, but this doesn't look too good.
Wow. That's a filmography to be proud of.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
The conjuring went a little overboard during the finale, but an exceptionally unsettling experience all the same.
This looks like one of the more pointless prequels.

yep, I love The Conjuring too but have no interest in this.
I wonder if Lorraine Warren doesn't want to sell the rights to a new story, so they had no choice but to go back to Annabelle.
A real Conjuring sequel is coming for Halloween 2015 with Farmiga and Wilson back as the Warrens, but the studio understandably realized they could fast-track a considerably less expensive but still brand-recognizable spin-off for this year.Quoting KK2.0 (view post)
Its production cost is apparently $5 million. They'll make that back opening night.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
Diva (Beineix, 1981)
Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)

Excellent teaser. Looks beautiful.
I kinda regret watching that teaser, since I'm only remembering now how many of the original's best moments were spoiled with its promo material. But in addition to that, I mostly just resented how the "true story" aspects of it felt like it kept it so close to the ground creatively. Even its most effective scares are relatively (cheaply) jumpy - or at least "You didn't think that ghost would pop up there!" in nature. Not to mention no supernatural force could actually build stakes of hurting anyone since obviously nothing happened in real life.
I sorta just hope Wan goes all out with this since he has nothing to lose. He made the 6th highest grossing film of all time right before this, and he already has Aquaman lined up with the same studio. So, I mean, I'm not a fan of the first one, since for all the handsomeness of its production, it just elicits a shrug when I think about it, but if he just makes this one as compelling and unsettling as the first half of Insidious, and at least a little bit as loony and unpredictable as its second half (or all of Furious 7, really), and I'll be happy.

WB is being sued for $900 million because of this. They get frivolously sued by authors a lot, but this guy may actually have a case because he apparently does hold rights to the Warrens' life story.

The most fascinating part is this:
Essentially this lawsuit hinges on the argument on whether or not demons are real, lol.

Well Universal gave up on the Dark Universe, so they are going full board on the Conjuring Universe.
The Conjuring (2013)
The Conjuring 2 (2016)
Annabelle (2014)
Annabelle: Creation (2017)
The Nun (2018)
New release scheduled for July 3, 2019
Dammit.
I want to see a preview for The Nun as the last Annabelle was pretty damn fun.
I mean... I'm not wholly against this. The Conjuring was a strong showing, The Conjuring 2 was less cohesive but more idiosyncratic and had a few standout sequences (the guitar, the interview), and Annabelle: Creation - it may just be an exercise in tensing up the audience, but it tensed me up for the entire runtime.
and it's Annabelle 3Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

I like the universe, so I'm in.
Guys, do me a favor. Watch this with headphones on. Tell me if you had the same reaction I did.

Yes twas a good jump scare (with headphones) Duke but hardly original in the realm of movie trailers. Many end with a burst of adrenaline. But bring it on! I fucking love Annabelle.

Jump scares always get me. It seems I'm a naturally jumpy individual.

This is rad as hell
Nice. I think VR is eventually going to bring a whole new approach to movies that wasn't possible before.
