I didn't think much of this week's episode, probably because of things like what led pointed out, and I really do hate Jerry any time he's on screen anywhere though I guess I didn't entirely hate him here. In the end, the ending did really make me laugh really hard and even an episode like this doesn't stop me from loving the season as a whole.

To me last week's one with the woman in the wheelchair may have been the funniest episode of the show I've ever seen. (Having not seen some of the middle seasons I can't say for sure.) If this really is the last season, then I'd say they're going out on a very good note and that they seem to suddenly have a fresher understanding of what makes the show funny and satisfying overall even at a point in its run where it's already quite established (even if things like the flashbacks and dream sequences don't always gel perfectly).
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

I loved this past episode. Seems likely to be one of the more rewatchable episodes of the season.

Finally started watching this again. I've decided to go back and watch the entire series, since I haven't seen the first two seasons since their original airing. After season two, I'm pretty hazy on what I have or haven't seen.

Already whipped through season one. It's interesting to watch the actors find a comfort zone in this type of format. Cheryl especially seems a bit awkward at times early in the season, but seems to find a groove about halfway through.

last night's episode was pretty pretty pretty good. the last two weeks have been a nice bounce back from episode six. after episode 3 i thought the seinfeld stuff would get alot more focus. but it really hasn't. will be interesting to see how the last two episodes play out.

Is there only two left? Seems like there should be much more.

they're both 40 minutes, if that's any consolation. but yeah, the seinfeld plot hasn't been developed very fluidly. seems like there should be alot of story left.

I knew they'd tackle that Michael Richards racism bit and I knew it wouldn't be very funny... but the bit with Leon and the hat as well as the faux-child molestation segment was great.

I actually thought the last scene was pretty terrible and way too contrived (though when I say this I mean more than usual in the way Larry wouldn't clue into what he was saying, because I realize most of the comedy in the show derives from contrivances). But pretty much anything Leon said or did was amazing and completely overshadowed whatever I didn't like. Even Jerry was pretty funny!

I don't know man. Larry's maniacal laugh at the end sold the scene for me.

Larry playing George was all kinds of meta-fun. Overall, not a bad conclusion., to the season or to the end of the series if this does turn out to be the end of Larry David on television.

i thought the seinfeld scenes were amazing. and the ending was great. precisely because as larry pointed out 'we never do that on this show!'

Yeah, I actually wasn't too impressed with the Seinfeld scenes either.

I have a feeling we weren't exactly supposed to be impressed by it.

why not? the stuff was good and at the end cheryl and larry were talking about how good it was.

i think the reason it worked, for me anyway, is because they didnt' go out of their way to try to make the bits exceptional. they settled with making scenes that would fit into an average episode of seinfeld. the idea that you have to outdo the series is the reason many reunion type deals fall flat on their face.

Yeah, but that's the thing, they weren't as good as an average Seinfeld episode.

i disagree. but then i think the bare midriff episode is one of the worst of the entire series. so maybe we don't look for the same things in curb.

Even though all four main actors retained the Seinfeld rhythm surprisingly well, the actual reunion show stuff was obviously deliberately meant to come off hackish. That's like, the whole joke of the season, you know?

The Bare Midriff really was one of the weakest episodes in the series run.

I just realized that in the making-of we got to see before Season 7 started had a scene where Jason Alexander shouted "We didn't have to do a reunion show! We were in perfect shape as it was" which I don't remember seeing in the actual show.

I thought the Seinfeld-stuff was perfectly fine. Not great or anything, but it was fun seeing them playing those characters again. Plus I don't know if it really was intentionally supposed to be lackluster. At least not in the same way the show-within-the-show from Season 4 of Seinfeld was deliberately terrible.
