The feature film will be released in theatres in August.

Then the television series will begin in the fall on the Cartoon Network, then on TnT.

Too much of a stretch to say the clone wars shorts were better than Lucas' three films?

    I kinda hope not.

Though I wouldn't personally agree, I don't think it's a stretch - I've read many people saying the same thing.

I actually liked the prequels, though thre first two are stylistically nothing like the original trilogy.

Don't get me wrong, neither The Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones are particularly good, but I enjoy them all the same.

Revenge of the Sith is the closest to the original trilogy of the latest three. Aside from Hayden Christensen and some crummy dialogue (pretty much anything between Anakin and Padme), I actually think it's a great movie. I'd probably rank it 3rd in the series, behind The Empire Strikes Back and A New Hope

Well considering the enormous gulf separating those two from the other 4....pretty much anything could be ranked 3rd.

I'm surprised there isn't more interest surrounding a new Star Wars theatrical release.

Is the fact that it's animated deterring people? Because the prequels got ridiculous hype, and the cast was pretty much the only thing not animated in those movies.

i enjoyed the Clone Wars toons but they were more like cool fight clips, maybe that's why they worked so well? i fear the script and acting in longer versions may turn them into an embarrasing mess, but i'm always hopeful for a good SW flick.

    Yeah, i never learn.

Interesting. I like the stylized animation here. However, I'm not too excited becuase the prequel trilogy (yes, including-maybe-even-espeically Revenge of the Sith) pretty much killed all my Star Wars enthusiasm. I can't even bring myself to watch the original trilogy in the last five or six years for fear of finding myself hating something I once loved. But I'll give this a shot, encouraged just the littlest bit because it would appear Lucas is neither directly writing or directing this.

I honestly think I'd rather see any other action-filled period from the history of the SW universe, but I know we're never gonna get it.

I agree. Why does Lucas have this obsession with the Clone Wars?

I thought I'd ask since he was involved with the original Clone Wars show.

    Nevertheless, damn.

I will have nothing to do with anything more Star Wars related unless it contains either Ewoks or Kit Fisto.

    Trailer

The Star Wars fan inside me wants to love this, but this looks completely meh. Shouldn't be surprising considering Lucas wrote the script.

Why oh why didn't they just get Genndy Tartakovsky to do this.
    Sure why not?

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) - 9
STRONGER (David Gordon Green) - 6
THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9

    Look alright.

The prequels were pretty much animated anyways, so it's not like it's a surprise that this is the direction they've taken - I'm just not sold on the style.

And it sounds like they got some of the principle cast members back - Jackson was definitely there, and Yoda sounded like Frank Oz.

Yeah, this could be one of the most mind boggling mix-ups of modern cinema.

    I just don't get it.

As it is now, this film looks terrible, and when compared to GT's work, it is ugly to the max.

I'd rather see a Lego Star Wars CGI film than this.

I just don't get why they're giving so much attention to perhaps the most uninteresting part of the entire Star Wars saga.

We can only watch the galaxy go downhill for so long.

I'd much rather see more content dealing with the Rebel uprising, and the Empire's strangehold on the galaxy. Stuff like the video game "Shadows of the Empire", which filled in story gaps between the original three films.

Indeed. Tartakovsky did wonders with it already, and now they build on that foundation with ludicrous amounts of money - without him?! Creatively doomed, I say. It will have an audience, for sure, but I'd rather see a good five minute short than a whole glitzy show that is completely uninteresting.

I'd like to see the last remnants of the empire becoming the new rebels and Luke Skywalker corrupted by the power of leadership.

    Indeed.

Again, the Clone Wars have just been done to death, and there's really not much content or depth there.

It almost seems like it's the part that's being explored the most because it's the prettiest.

Yes, that looks hideous. At war with the Hutt clan? Talk about unimaginative fan service.

Well, until about six years ago, it sure seemed interesting.
