I even heard people talking about the Stanley Cup last week and I never hear anyone talk about hockey but nothing with the World Cup.

A few kids in my Calc class seem to be fans. Me and a couple friends that play soccer have been watching games at the local Mexican restaurant & bar because those guys are fanatics. For the most part though, people around here don't care about it.

I wonder what it would be like in another country. Ghana was shutting down factories so people would have enough electricity to watch the game. Brazil declares national holidays whenever they're playing in the Cup. Seems so weird being a soccer fan in a country that doesn't care about it.

Yeah, it's pretty rampant here in Denver as well. Many are enjoying it for the excuse to day drink.

THe high scoring and watchable times have made this the best cup I've been aware of.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Wake me up when the U.S. isn't awful at soccer. I follow enough terrible sports teams already.

It's pretty big here. I can tell a game is going on because suddenly there's screaming. (I live near bars.)

I also live in an area with a high immigrant population, which might be a factor.
    ...and the milk's in me.

Well they won their first game. Beating Portugal will be tough but it's possible.

Embarassing for Spain. Ghana deserved to win that U.S. match; totally outplayed them the entire second half.

Cahill's boot in Aus.-Ned. match is probably the best goal so far in the games.

I'm sticking with Van Persie's header, but Cahill's goal is a close second.

Come on Italy! You don't want the match against Uruguay to be decisive! Forza ragazzi!!

Kinda bummed England is out already, but it was a tough group.

Fucking South America man!! Goddammit! That said, Italy isn't good enough to make a difference. They better elevate their motherfucking game.

Michael Bradley and Geoff Cameron were abysmal. Without those two on the pitch, U.S. wins. What a gutting loss. Still in good shape to advance, but man did that hurt.

Cameron was so good vs. Ghana. Bradley was much better here than he was vs. Ghana, but still some boneheaded plays. Missing that point blank chance and then giving up the ball at the end there. Still, I really look the look of the team in the 4-5-1. I think we'll be able to stay within a goal of Germany. Hopefully Ghana-Portugal is close too, it's going to be a nervewracking Thursday afternoon.

Cameron was good vs. Ghana, sure, but he was completely responsible for the first goal, and a big part of the second by letting Varela get behind him. He completely fell asleep. So disappointing.

Bradley has been bad both games. His touch was bad today, he missed easy passes throughout the match, bungled that sitter, and that turnover with seconds left was just unforgivable. If you can't find anyone, boot it downfield. I mean, that's stuff my son's team practices and knows, and he's twelve.
