    Star Wars Anthology Discussion

No, he's not directing Episode VII, but an entirely new spin-off movie that is a remake of Seven Samurai but with lightsabers.

I guess this is the first of many one-shot Star Wars movies under the new Disney agreement. I dunno, think Snyder's speed-ramping skillz would work well in the overly-done Star Wars universe.
    Sure why not?

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) - 9
STRONGER (David Gordon Green) - 6
THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9
LADY BIRD (Greta Gerwig) - 8

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

But really, "Snyder's speed-ramping skillz would work well in the overly-done Star Wars"...

Just no. No slow-mo in Star Wars. I can't ever see that working. I can barely fathom the idea of Synder not using slow-mo in this Superman flick.

Edit: But I do approve of them doing spin offs like this. I just think Synder is a bad choice. There's going to be 3 Star Wars movies a year and they're all going to look completely different?

A Star Wars movie based on an Akira Kurosawa film? Yeah, good luck with that.

    Star Wars Anthology Discussion

So where does Gareth Edwards go next after a huge hit with Godzilla? Why somewhere boring and predictable of course.

Gareth Edwards to direct Star Wars spin-off film.

Interesting that Disney is willing to go up against Avatar 2.

Yeah, if they can get that whole group together, I'll be a nerd all over again.

I read that Tales book, and even played the SWCCG game to own all their cards. Turned out they were some of the worst characters to have in the game though.

    Sold out?

The guy's entire filmography is monster movies.

...it's not Cameron's name that sells these things. It's Cameron's understanding of how to tell a story that appeals to mass audiences. That's what keeps them coming back.
It's interesting to note that nearly all of Cameron's movies are highly formulaic in terms of plot structure and genre.

The Terminator is a slasher flick. Aliens is another horror film. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is an R-rated E.T.. True Lies is an action rom-com. Titanic is Jane Austen lite. And plenty has been made about Avatar being Dances with Wolves in space.

Curiously, Cameron's least formulaic (and most sincere) film is The Abyss; curious because it's the only one that was a financial disappointment.

Frankly, I think that's more an indictment of audiences than of Cameron, who is able to do what most mainstream filmmakers pray to be able to do.

...the 2016 Star Wars spin-off movie is about the group of people out to pull off the ultimate heist in a galaxy far, far away.

...think the Seven Samurai or Suicide Squad meets Ocean’s Eleven in the world of Star Wars.
    So...

Everyone's nervous as fuck. The last thing Disney wants to do is to drop the ball on the Star Wars franchise.

    Your Han Solo short list:

    Miles Teller
    Ansel Elgort
    Scott Eastwood
    Logan Lerman
    Dave Franco
    Jack Reynor
    Emory Cohen
    Blake Jenner

None of them really excite me. Teller's a good actor, so maybe him. But I think Lerman might have the best look for it.

More Ewan McGregor would be great. Some dude in a helmet? Tougher hurdle.
