    Johnson added he is still in talks with Lucasfilm to make more Star Wars films, though had no news about them. “We’re still engaged with Lucasfilm and we’ll wait and see,” Johnson said. “No updates on it at this moment, but yeah.”

    Nah theyll listen to box office. So if JJs 2nd round is a rehash and doesn't blow the doors off the vault, Rian will be okay. If it isnt a rehash and succeeds, Rian will be okay. If its an obvious rehash and makes huge bank, Rian is out of the SW business.

    The opposite. That Lucasfilm was so impressed by Johnson they gave him his own trilogy. They announced his trilogy before TLJ was released.

    But to your point, reception is everything. And the question is, is the divisiveness giving Lucasfilm second thoughts?

    Benioff/Weiss' trilogy was apparently going to be about the beginning of the Jedi.

    I'm thinking Kevin Feige's approach will be the new trilogy, and Disney+ keeps it to that and their TV shows for Mandalorian and Obi-Wan while they figure out if anything else is even needed.

    Rumor has it the Johnson Trilogy is canceled and Lucasfilm is waiting until after Rise of Skywalker is released to announce it. They don't want the negative press to hurt the film's performance.

    Not sure what that exactly means for other trilogies, but yeah, a little more than just a rumor. They can keep Johnson in development hell for the next year or 2 and spin it any way they like once Dis+ is established.

    ETA: Also I think it's hilarious they screened "Mandalorian" for fansites but not for critics.

    Like, wtf? Seriously? I wanted to stream "Mandalorian" as soon as this went live, binge it, and then quit the service.
