    Star Wars Anthology Discussion

No, he's not directing Episode VII, but an entirely new spin-off movie that is a remake of Seven Samurai but with lightsabers.

I guess this is the first of many one-shot Star Wars movies under the new Disney agreement. I dunno, think Snyder's speed-ramping skillz would work well in the overly-done Star Wars universe.
    Sure why not?

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) - 9
STRONGER (David Gordon Green) - 6
THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9
LADY BIRD (Greta Gerwig) - 8

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

But really, "Snyder's speed-ramping skillz would work well in the overly-done Star Wars"...

Just no. No slow-mo in Star Wars. I can't ever see that working. I can barely fathom the idea of Synder not using slow-mo in this Superman flick.

Edit: But I do approve of them doing spin offs like this. I just think Synder is a bad choice. There's going to be 3 Star Wars movies a year and they're all going to look completely different?

A Star Wars movie based on an Akira Kurosawa film? Yeah, good luck with that.

Hmmm...I guess there could have been worse choices. I guess...

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

I dunno, I really like the idea of directors being able to do these individual spin-off stories with their own stylistic stamps that can set up backstories for the inevitably more Lucas-heir-apparent milestone episodes.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

It can mean whatever you want it to mean. ritch:

I'm all for the idea, even if it was sort of done already with the brilliant Samurai 7. My only vague concern is all this jumping around in the universe may confuse some viewers. I feel that what the Avengers Saga has achieved in this regard is unique.

But if they can keep track of it all like they do and have it make sense, all the more power to them.

    Star Wars Anthology Discussion

So where does Gareth Edwards go next after a huge hit with Godzilla? Why somewhere boring and predictable of course.

Gareth Edwards to direct Star Wars spin-off film.

Interesting that Disney is willing to go up against Avatar 2.

It's boring to get a Star Wars movie? I thought that was the holy grail.

Edwards has said multiple times that Star Wars is what made him want to do movie things. Predictable, but I'd say fair, too.

I have a feeling the Avatar sequels won't come close to grossing the money the first movie did. Just a prediction.
