Question: Did Order 66 have any other priorities other than to remove the Jedi from power and kill them?

I watched a Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order clip on youtube that further explained below, and was wondering if this is explained in any other Jedi cannon story: (it explains a lot on why the soldiers so easily slaughtered all the Jedi and padawans.

    1. Order 66, with its bio-chip brain-implants within the Clone Troopers, basically "reset" the Clones to their "factory defaults" when activated. This meant two things...
    - a.) Any combat skills they may have gained through field-experience was erased; so accordingly, their skills are reduced to that of their basic training, with perhaps some skills retained from "muscle memory" field-experience. So yes, most of the Clones were reduced to "Stormtrooper-level" accuracy as a result of Order 66. ;<

    - b.) The Order 66 activation of the bio-chips essentially LOBOTOMIZED the Clone Troopers, thus why they were able to slaughter their Jedi charges & commanders without question or hesitation; even those Jedi with whom the Clones had formed bonds of camaraderie &/or friendship (and in a few rare cases, lovers &/or family).

    2. This is also why almost all remaining Clone Troopers that survived the execution of Order 66 died off shortly (within a few years) after the Great Jedi Purge; the irreversible brain damage caused from the bio-chips' "overriding" (crippling/destroying) the Clones' higher cognitive brain functions. That and the Empire used them up as expendable conquest fodder against any remaining Separtist and Republic hold-outs too.

I had never heard any of this before now.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I haven't heard that before but it makes total sense.

I also rewatched Solo again last night, and it continues to get better with every viewing. Especially considering it was cobbled together from two films by Ron Howard...wow. Its time I stop turning my nose up at his work, because damn is that an achievement.

Dude. What? I know she's directly comparing this to Marvel but gimme a break. This is your response? Seems incredibly lazy.......

Every one of these movies is a particularly hard nut to crack. There’s no source material. We don’t have comic books. We don’t have 800-page novels. We don’t have anything other than passionate storytellers who get together and talk about what the next iteration might be. We go through a really normal development process that everybody else does. You start by talking to filmmakers who you think exhibit the sensibilities that you’re looking for."

    Wow. Just... wow.

    There’s no source material.
    Yes, there is.

    We don’t have comic books.
    Yes, you do.

    We don’t have 800-page novels.
    Yes, you do.

And yet she's in charge of this whole operation? Yikes. Explains a lot.

This is 100% Feige's job in 2021 when Kennedy's contract is up. I don't care he has a whole Phase 4 and Phase 5 and Phase 6 to do. He's 47. He can figure it out. (hard to imagine he was put in charge of Marvel at 36)

Also, I learned today that Kennedy was appointed by Lucas before the Disney sale (probably an agreement that she stay in charge for x amount of years). I didn't realize this wasn't Disney's #1 choice anyway. Of course they are going to want to put a Disney person in charge of it.

So frustrating. I turn my head 90 degrees and look upon dozens of fucking great novels that were totally fleshed out characters and arcs...all decanonized for what? So you could show everyone your new made up story lines are better? YOU HAD A FUCKING BLUE-PRINT!!

Whatever. I guess if you pay 4 billion and change you get to do what you want.

    Yeaaaaaaah, I mean ... she's not wrong?

There's a lot of material lying around (the so-called Extended Universe) but most of it is garbage. Even the stuff that's supposed to be good (Zahn, etc) isn't very. It's not like they could plug a few 30 year old novels into a new trilogy and away we go.

I think Star Wars is permanently stuck in George's original decisions. They got one story (Rebels vs Empire, neverending), a half-baked philosophy passing as depth? I guess? which severely limits the plots they can do, and a completely insane fanbase that shits the bed when LucasFilm diverges from established tropes.

Blockbuster genre needs actors with serious charisma to sneak its dumber aspects past the audience. Lucas had Ford and Jones. The Wachowskis had Fishburne. Feige had Downey Jr. Etc.

Kennedy has ... a buncha people so constrained by the IP that they were never allowed to exhibit personality.

I mean, we can say, yeah, she's made a hash of it and anything that comes down the pike now will be fucked but I seriously cannot imagine 1 person in the business who coulda done better, because the problem lives deep in the property itself, not with any given CEO.

Irish hit the nail on the head. What else is there to discuss if you don't start from somewhere else? Rebels vs Empire / Never-ending. Even in the Mandalorian there's stormtroopers hanging around and this is supposed to be set after Jedi?

Well in the books (that they swiped away) explained that just because the Emperor was dead, the Empire didn't just die and everyone took their outfits and shuffle off to start farming. The regional rulers squabbled to take control for years. Different factions of the Empire loyal to different parts of the Empire. Similar to feudal Japan (I think?). It makes sense thats what would happen.

Its essentially what they did with the New Order in VII, just less interesting than the books (imo).

He's done some pretty engaging stuff. Apollo 13, Frost/Nixon, Ransom and Rush all spring to mind imo.

Maybe you're yanking his chain, but this is a pet peeve. It isn't Irish's job to do this. Does that mean he or anyone else can't express views on it?

Ironically, it's us regular folks who frequently have much more lucid and noble ideas than most folks working in Hollywood because we're unencumbered by notions of commercialism and whatnot.

I was just yanking his chain.

Irish and I have a very tumultuous relationship.

But we always come back to each other, because the sex is just that good.

Even with my limited knowledge of the Extended Universe I realize Kennedy is completely wrong. I mean, either she's being disingenous or she's simply the wrong person for the job. Of course they could take any number of these novels, comic-books and videogames and work out their concepts and storylines into feature films in 2019. Nobody is saying they can't write their own thing as well, but the way they discarded every canon story from the table from the get-go was always stupid for me. And almost every fan agrees that the new trilogy has awful plotting, The Last Jedi notwithstanding.

I donno I really like the main trio in the new films. Oscar Isaac seems to paper over a lot of the flaws in the current series. Just like Ford did with the OT.

    Agreed, MadMan.

I was not a fan of TLJ, but I do love the new cast of characters.

Why is Last Jedi nonsensical arguments filling my Twitter again?

That dialog, supportive or not, is the most annoying film-related argument in years.
