Yeah, I think it is less likely for NBC to abandon all their contracted daytime programming when they have the online option and the NBCSports network. Plus, I have found most people really only care about seeing the medal rounds and the US athletes, and the primetime recaps are sufficient for that.

I don't have a problem with showing edited coverage on the network primetime show, but you need to actually edit the coverage. The slope-style Saturday night looked like they just cut out a bunch of runs and stuck the rest together. No frame of reference for anything. Just edit in five seconds of narration or even show the leaderboard more. It was impossible to compare the people we did see with those that we didn't.

My roommate and I just screamed our heads off when that girl... Sharka?... just ate it on slopestyle. I thought she might be DEAD. Holy hell. Her helmet was cracked in half! Sheesh.

By the way, I did not realize the NBC highlights started at 7. Missed a whole hour.

And those guys on the alpine run go faster than I am willing to go in a car. Surrounded by metal.

Yeah, that was a brutal fall. Very relieved to see her get up and finish the course.

I saw some of the Games today but only at my local sports bar. I don't have cable anymore and I can't pick up NBC on my crappy antenna. So I might try viewing it online except it requires me to have a cable subscriber. This is what I get for not having a digital antenna.

I knew a fall like that was coming since the NYTimes this afternoon featured a story detailing the fears of concussions and mentioning that one of the jumpers suffered that kind of hit.

Impressed by how much healthier Canada's figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond looks over the rest of the women, though she's also rocking shorter skirts than the others. The Russian girl, meanwhile, is pretty much a terminator; her leg lifts are uncannily flexible.

Yes. I'm wondering how fast I snowboard... And get scared at probably 1/4 of their speed.

You see the ski jumping? It is insane. On the normal hill, they are flying the length of a football field and at takeoff they are going close to 90 km/hr (about 55 mph) and on the large hill they fly about 1.3 football fields and go over 100 km/hr (over 60 mph).

I actually have no idea what our online streaming situation is, but I haven't even thought about needing it considering how much the CBC fits into its constant over-the-air broadcast.
You can stream anything and everything live or on demand. Skip everything you're not interested in. It's how I've been watching.
Wishful thinking, perhaps; but that is just another possible definition of the featherless biped.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I wonder how one trains to ski jump over a football field.

Do you start at 5 ft, 10 ft, etc?

My wife and I had this very discussion last night. It seems like a really difficult "practice makes perfect" sport.

This is the same Olympian who had to bust through his bathroom door, Kool-Aid man style.

Why don't the snowboarders go backwards? It's cool.

    Dude.
I did a double take. "Are those women going backwards?" Why, yes, they are.

They do technically, but your body is positioned sideways in snowboarding instead of facing front, so it looks the same more-or-less. But when they do jumps that don't have a final complete rotation, they land with their body facing the opposite side.

Same for skiing, but it looks cooler because you are physically turned backward.
