Pretty much exactly as advertised, it's Jackass with a story. And it was a pretty damn fun time at the theater.

A few nice gags that weren't seen in the trailer, but pretty boring and sluggish throughout.

I mean, this delivers exactly what you'd hope for, as long as that falls within everything it's willing to deliver (especially if you've seen the trailers and TV spots, since they seemed to show every non-R-rated or story-heavy bit imaginable). Luckily for me, those expectations checked out perfectly. In the end, it's a Jackass prank that in previous movies used to occupy the length of a trailer or a music video, so with that precedent, now given a plot, it holds up surprisingly well under those circumstances, made me laugh a lot, and impressed me with its weird brand of sincere sweetness.

Not too bummed out that I missed it in theatres, but perfect for catching up with on a snowy Saturday afternoon like this. I just love that Spike Jonze also wrote the screenplay for this in the same year he received his first Oscar nomination for the same field.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?
