Right now I'm about an hour and a half into the Dragonborn expansion pack for Skyrim, and so far, it's fucking incredible.

Thanks for playing it, Lasse! I'm glad you're having some fun with it. I'm also a bit glad that it's infuriating.Quoting Lasse (view post)

I used to have some of those Tiger games as a kid. They were fucking terrible.

I have several pages of designs I made for LCD games when I was a kid, including drawing all the images and arranging them so they'd work. One of these was a pretty ambitious RTS Warcraft clone.
I've a feeling it's going to be balls-to-the-wall insanity. Just absurdly enjoyable and action-packed. That said, the midway switch to a different developer, even one as cool as Platinum, might be a bad omen.Quoting megladon8 (view post)

Aliens: Colonial Marines Reviews
EGM (90/100): "On an express elevator to otherworldly awesomeness."
meanwhile, everyone else...
OXM UK (60/100): "It needed to offer intense combat against an unstoppable force, deft storytelling that matched the cinematic flair of the films, and some new ideas that could have rejuvenated an overexposed franchise. It needed, in short, to be a better game."
Edge (50/100): "Colonial Marines feels stiff, shallow and dated. First announced for a 2008 release before the Aliens franchise machine prioritized other projects, it feels like more work has been retained from that initial production period than either Gearbox or Sega would care to admit. "
Game Informer (40/100): "Take away the Aliens license, and you've got a shooter that has no reason to exist. It would be like stripping the terraforming from Fracture or playing Inversion without its gravity-defying gimmick. At its best, it's barely mediocre."
Eurogamer (30/100): "It's shocking stuff, certainly one of the most glitchy mainstream releases of this hardware generation, and the sort of thing that would barely pass muster as a low budget game from 2002."
Oh and Meg, figured you be excited about Bungie's new project being announced on Feb 17th. It's called Destiny, and if you remember, it was this concept art that got a lot of people excited. Certainly looks cool.
HA. throwawayacm claims to have worked on the game for a year and a half. He says that 85% of the game's campaign was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, and Gearbox's main priority was clearly on Borderlands 2.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

The reviews certainly don't live up to Gearbox's track record so I have no reason to think this is BS.
Oh and The Last of Us has been delayed a month to June 14
And just to show you how bad it really is.... just wow.
I said it forever ago, but you can't ever trust an aliens game. Sad.
I think in general action games shouldn't have boss battles anymore, unless they're going to be massive monsters or something.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the best title for a videogame since Tales of Game's Presents Chef Boyardee's Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
Also, the game looks awesome and I've heard from quite a few people that it's a lot of fun based on the demo. It's one of the games I most want to play. YOU CAN SLICE THINGS.
[]
tried to preach the awesomeness of the "revengeance" title before, but it seemed like matchcutters were having none of it
forget it sycophant, it's matchcuttown
The only bad thing about the title Revengeance is that now we're undoubtedly deprived of a Red Dead Revengeance.
I feel buttfucked. Goddammit Gearbox.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

Sure, whatever. I watched the video an hour ago and this was my first opportunity to reply. :P
I didn't, but I feel buttfucked because I was still sorta championing the game and the demo video shown I don't remember when was, in comparison, rather promising. But really, every one should feel buttfucked out of sheer principle here. I can, with some effort, understand E3 demo's to show of a new system like it happened in 2005 with Motorstorm and Killzone 2. But here, jesus, it's just bad especially because the demo didn't feel earth-shatteringly next-gen. That said, when the price goes down I'll probably get it unless my brother really wants it in which case he can pay for it and I won't have to feel bad about it.Quoting Dukefrukem (view post)

Here's an article that explains why the final product looks worse than the demo.
http://kotaku.com/5984068/how-aliens...nes-fell-apart
Long story short, Gearbox started the project, had to farm it out to a 3rd party called TimeGate to complete it. TimeGate threw out everything Gearbox did and started over for some reason. Later, TimeGate sent them a pile of garbage, so Gearbox threw most of that out and started over AGAIN. Since Gearbox was under pressure from Sega to release the game (which was in development for 6 years), Gearbox just released a ganky game, knowing it would be blasted.
