I'm sorry, I still cannot take the title "Revengeance" seriously.
But yeah, 2013 looks to be a great year already.
If you or anybody else wants, please add me and hopefully we can play sometime. "skreeonk" is my PSN name.Quoting D_Davis (view post)

Um... Last of Us. Beyond Two Souls as well.
So, yep, buying a PS3 in 2013.
Completed Half-Life: Black Mesa. Or at least what was offered as the alien levels will be released at a later date. Kinda unfortunate as I thought they were abysmal back in 1998 so it's a weird point to place the cliffhanger. The penultimate levels weren't much better either with some frustrating rotating platforms and jumping puzzles.
Overall, and especially considering it was free, a tremendous offering. Well done mods.
Now back to Ico HD, a game I haven't touched since I started to play HL:BM.

Have begun playing "Max Payne 3".
It's pretty cool but I feel like it's much more a story - a movie with a few interactive moments - than a video game. Though I've not played "Asura's Wrath", it has that feel of it being a cinematic experience first, a video game second.
The shooting feels kind of dated. They added a cover mechanic (pretty much required of all post-"Gears" third person shooters, it seems) but it's pretty clunky, and Max's movement feels like really he is drunk and high - he's slow and the controls are inarticulate, which I feel could have been some kind of neat stylistic choice to echo how literally drunk and high he is at all times, but then he pulls off these incredible acrobatic feats and they don't add up at all, so I am left to feel that, no, it's just a game that controls poorly.
The bullet time mechanic is as neat as ever, and seeing what angles you can achieve to give yourself the most air time to pick guys off is a lot of fun.
But the story is just so damn good, the dialogue so well written, that it all works.
Rockstar should really take a stab at film production.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
Started Fallout 3 today. I haven't felt this behind on a learning curve since I played WoW for a few months. I can tell this game is massive and it's unapologetic. Found an elementary school with a bunch of raiders and can't make any significant progress. Any beginner tips to offer?
Use the VATS system all the time. Get close, and aim for the head.Quoting Lucky (view post)
Don't drink water from the toilet.
“What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, er... an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks and that's all.”
Start off at Megaton. You'll get some quests there. It's the giant city with the wall behind it. It's very close to the school and it's guarded by a robot.Quoting Lucky (view post)
Follow along with the quests and don't go exploring until you're comfortable with the combat and have a decent weapon.

D, I would strongly suggest checking out the soundtrack to "Max Payne 3" (that is, if you aren't interested in playing the game itself).
Really interesting, different music. Very sparse and atmospheric electronic. It's really cool.

Interesting. I hadn't heard anything about the music in this. I'll check it out.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
I started a replay of Mass Effect 2, for the first time as male Shepard, and full Renegade. I am not enthusiastic about his voice and, coupled with acting like a jerk, it's like I'm playing a whole new, horrible character. But the team members join his crew anyway. Their standards are not as high as I thought they were.

Yeah the music is by a band called Health, and it sets the tone wonderfully. Very eerie.

Sometimes. Othertimes I blame the developers for not directing the player well enough. There were a few times in the first Darksiders where I was trying to figure out a certain puzzle for hours... and finally I find it and it's a new gameplay mechanic or something they didn't make obvious to the player.Quoting Morris Schæffer (view post)
Ugh. I just pre-ordered Resident Evil 6 Anthology for next day delivery. I told myself I would stop buying games until I finish the ones I'm already playing. My reasoning was I didn't pay full price because I had 40 Amazon points. Does that make it better?
