Just beat Dark Souls again. I think this is like my 6th time.
Yes, painted world is so cool.
with the upcoming announcement of new castlevania games, I was discussing with some friends about how Dark Souls feels like some sort of 3d SOTN and one of them told me about a "belmont run", where you get the whip early into the game and try to beat it with it.
Damn, it must make things much harder than it already is, but it sounds awesome nonetheless.

These quests don't bother me, since I get them done naturally while doing other quests. The game is still fun for me since the combat is so great, but all the escort quests are the ones that are bugging me. Since there is no fast travel at all, I've walked from the capital to various spots on the other side of the map over and over and over and over again.
People complain about the map being smaller than other games of this ilk, but frankly I could do with the map being even smaller than it is since you have to walk everywhere and constantly fight the same things again and again. It needs either a limited fast travel system of some sort or scaling enemies.
That's my only major gripe, though. Aside from that, still very fun.
"Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb."
Yeah - I'm getting really tired of the same looking areas over and over again. I feel like I've visited the same places dozens of times, but at the same time it takes forever to get to those places. If anything, your stamina should only come in to play while in combat, because not being able to run to a point on the map just makes things take far too long.Quoting Biff Justice (view post)
Still having a lot of fun with the game, it's just that the flaws are starting to become a little harder to over look.
fast travel is obtained with 'portcrystals' or something like that. I've been reading my friends talking about the game a lot but still haven't got me a copy.
Yeah - they're like $20k each, and as far as I know they are limited to traveling only to a place that has a portal. So far, I've only found one portal in the main city. Sometimes you get them as a quest reward, kind of like getting a Homeward Bone in Dark Souls after beating a boss.Quoting KK2.0 (view post)
I gave up on Syndicate after about an hour. It just wasn't any fun. I was expecting more of a Bioshock like game what with the powers and everything and unfortunately it's more of just a generic shooter.
Moved on to Max Payne 3. The shooting is kind of generic but the story and Rockstar presentation makes me interested enough to want to finish it. It's a far more difficult game then I would have imagined. I'm playing on normal and after about 20 deaths I started counting and I'm near the end of the game and I've died almost 200 times. I'm not a great shooter player but I'm decent and it can be a little ridiculous. Going up stairs and getting one shot killed when I'm constantly putting 30-40 shots in to one guy before he stays down gets a little annoying. I had one guy where I had to shoot him seven times in the head before he stopped getting up.

This year has brought me Dragon's Dogma, Tales of Graces F, Kid Icarus Uprising, and Devil Survivor 2. I'll probably pick up Diablo III (dug the demo). I've got Persona 4: The Arena and Anarchy Reigns on preorder. If I end up with a laptop that can play it by the end of the summer, I'm pretty sure I'll be getting Dark Souls PC as well.
I'm not complaining. Those are, of course, mostly to my tastes and not really to yours, but I'm not complaining.
EDIT: And since I was just listing every 2012 title I could think of that I liked, I'll throw in Soul Calibur V as well. Loving that.
That picture, though pretty, did nothing to tell me how 2013 was going to be better because I have no idea what those games are.
I knew what all those pictures were and I'm only interested in one of them.

It's only May and I've played Mass Effect 3, Journey, and Diablo 3.
I would say 2012 is a really good year.
Sure why not?

Need a new game... Maybe I should just get the PS3.
I still need to finish Batman: Arkham City and GTA IV before I can get a new game. Possibly Skyrim, but I doubt my friends will still be playing it by the time I finally get around to it.

I should have been more specific. I feel like 2012 has been disappointing because everything is getting delayed until 2013. Most if not all of those games had a tentative fall of 2012 release and now they will all be released in 2013 if not later.
Off the top of my head, I can't think of ONE decent holiday 2012 title that doens't end in Duty or Creed.
That new DMC isn't out yet? How long has it been in development? It feels like forever ago that all the gamers were going, "NO! New Dante looks gay!!!!!"

Bought Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for XBLA. I never really played it, but man the graphics have that horrid chunky look that seems to crush a lot of details. Perhaps the PSone version was entirely the same, but a cleaned up HD version would have been snazzy.
Finally started L.A. Noire in earnest. I can see where this might become boring somewhere down the line, but I hope I'll endure until the end. It's just such a mouthwatering proposition and cruising down 40's L.A. is awesome.

In a game where deductive skills are important it is so dissapointing that every newly discovered piece of evidence is emphasized by the protagonist basically spelling it out for the player. Case in point, I found some glasses by a railroad track of a particular brand. I'm now searching the man's house and find a glasses receptacle of the same brand. Now, instead of making that deduction myself - granted not an arduous challenge - good ole Cole Phelps is doing it for me. I can imagine this becoming massively grating later on.Quoting Morris Schæffer (view post)
I understand Rockstar doing this because it wants to feature fully rounded characters who think, speak, breathe, but it's dissapointing all the same. I can see later crime scenes becoming far more complex and it seems liberating and immensely gratifying to solve them by applying my brain cells without any outside help.

If From Software were to make a "Castlevania" game, that'd be a day 1 purchase for me.
We should start a Kickstarter.
