I have it pre-ordered from 4 different places, just to be safe :P
    Wow!

With releases like GTA I always pre-order, mostly because it's cheaper and you're guaranteed to have the game on the day it launches. I'm not taking any chances on the availability of the game in the stores over here.

The only games I ever pre-order are the smaller, niche titles like Disgaea, or Persona, or other Atlus titles. These games usually end up selling for more than the retail price a few months after they are released because they only make a small quantity.

Oh man...IGN's hour-long GTAIV podcast has me jazzed - to the extreme.

    This game sounds too awesome.

I cannot wait to play the 16-player, free mode.

Picking my copy up tomorrow, bright and early.

I know what my summer is going to consist of.

Just my luck. I pre-ordered GTA IV from an online shop and they sent the game yesterday. But today the TNT mailmen are on strike so no mail was delivered today. And tomorrow and the day after tomorrow are both national holidays over here. So I'll have to wait until friday.

Picked up my copy at Best Buy at lunch. Now it taunts me from my backpack while I'm stuck at work.

Online name for PS3 is 'bunuel' (shut up) if anyone wants another for multiplayer.

This game is way too huge.

I actually want to complete this game. With all the other GTA's, I just normally goof off and play cat and mouse with the police instead of getting any missions done.

    "GTA IV" is amazing.

The level of detail is quite striking.

And the reviews are right - it's the first game in the series where the city really does feel alive, rather than ahuge chunk of space with occasional pedestrians.

Anyone else have any troubles getting the multiplayer to work?

I try to get into games, start games, etc. but every time, while loading the game, it suddenly says "Disconnected from gameplay session. Returning to single player..."

My game froze up on me, which sucked, but it hasn't happened again after a 5 hour session so hopefully it won't be an issue.

It took 4 dates for that Michelle chick to put out. Prude. But at least she doesn't ask questions when I pick her up in the flaming wreckage of a stolen Corvette. So that's a plus.

Also, I highly recommend putting the subtitles on because trying to understand what the hell the Jamaican is saying while you drive his mission nearly made my head pop. Not that the subtitles were much more intelligible, but they at least help.

    Definitely liking it so far.

Niko is definitely the most likable protagonist I have encountered in the series thus far.

    A great game.

I hope I start to memorize the city soon, because I've played it for probably 5 hours total so far and I still have no idea how to find my way around.

The GPS has come in handy in pretty much everything I've done.

    Are you serious?

She put out on my second date.

    I win.

I messed up with her because I skipped on the cinematic on our date and apparently it made me "rush out of the date" before she could enjoy it.

I once scared her off when I accidentally got a wanted level and the cops were chasing me.

But luckily we'd already had sex.

Apparently sex creates a bond which cannot be broken by illegal activity.

EDIT: Forgot to ask - has anyone heard Lazlow on any of the radio stations?

I haven't heard him once yet. I really hope they didn't omitt him from this entry in the series...he was one of the best parts!!

A guy I went to high school with has already beaten the whole game.

He picked it up yesterday morning at 9:00am and played it non-stop, taking one break to sleep for 3 hours.

Bear in mind, this is the same guy who played "World of Warcraft" so much that his parents paid him $1000 to throw it in the garbage and never mention it again.

Yeah, I took her to a bar the date after we'd had sex and accidentally fired a shotgun while trying to hail a cab. I was drunk. She got pissed and left.

Once you move to the Bronx the travel time to go see her gets annoying, so hopefully Niko finds a new chick soon. (Dating in the New York area is actually quite similar in this respect.)

How long did it take you to get that first burrough memorized pretty well?

I'm starting to see how it branches, and how you basically live on the "main street".

It really is incredible how they design the games to help ease you into the environment and get you acquainted with the city.

I use the GPS and waypoint markers pretty much all the time, so I guess not quite yet.

Getting to stuff like Michelle's or Mikhail's or any of the businesses on the main thoroughfare is easy enough, but I need the markers to find my way back to that area after losing the cops or completing an out of the way mission.

While you're all curbing hookers and wrecking sweet rides or whatever it is you do in PURE FILTH IV, I'm rediscovering the joy of video gaming with Okami (pure beauty), Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates (ARPGs FTW!), and Professor Layton and the Curious Village (tricky puzzle phrasing!).

I just ordered No More Heroes from Amazon for a mere $30. Looking forward to it.

Spent nearly 2 hours straight collecting cars for that psycho 'roid-head Brucie.

Man, this is an amazing game.

After an hour of playtime with GTA IV, I've come to the realization that the slow-mo cinematic view is insanely cool during hi-octane moments. Possibly the coolest bit I've discovered so far. Yesterday I was driving a truck and moments before colliding head-on with a cop car, punched the slo-mo button. It was so hilarious to see the cop flying through the windshield and hitting the truck from above.

Brucie is by far my favorite character at this point. Listening to him talk when you're in a car with him is non-stop hilarity.
