    Ever? Are you serious?
I was just acknowledging the possibility as I'm not too familiar with the Tomb Raider series, although I have taken note of all the hate that is often lobbed at it. Perhaps that has only been in regards to the recent installments.

(However, that IGN list doesn't appear to be in any kind of order...)
Well, they are numbered one through ten.

It's a rather strong first-person shooter that excels in the area of atmosphere and superbly exciting shooting action courtesy of the option to slow down time to mow down baddies. The story isn't too bad either.

I played the PC version however and it was quite some time ago so I'm not sure how cutting edge FEAR still is.
Before I got my Xbox 360, I played like one game a year. It'll take me a while until I'm caught up with what is cutting edge and what not.
    (Also, it was cheap.)

BTW, having missed out and just now catching up on a decade's worth of PS1 and PS2 games, as well as having a Wii on which I'm playing a lot of old Gamecube games gives me some kind of feeling of superiority over everyone getting excited for shiny new games as I find myself thoroughly enjoying last-gen gems for the first time. Like the kid who's exploring Godard and Kubrick while everyone else obsesses about the newest Summer blockbuster.

Basically I'm trying to say I'm an elitist prick. In video games now, too.

Which is strange, though, because TR scored lower than most (all?) of the games listed below it.

It just makes you late to the party that the rest of us have been enjoying since 1997.

It's more like you've finally opened your eyes!

I've always enjoyed playing a mix of good new and old games. I'm usually a gen or two behind on the PC, and I am also into emulation. I also enjoy busting out the Sega Saturn and Dreamcast to enjoy some games from those gens as well.

The hate came with games III though Dark Angel, and with how overexposed and tired Lara became. After the second game, everything became stale and tired, and Dark Angel was an absolute travesty. Thankfully, Crystal Dynamics took over and injected some life back into the dying franchise. Although some might wonder why...I mean, they could have just started a whole new thing with similar mechanics and atmosphere.

I still really like the feeling of a good Tomb Raider. There is something really special about these games - when they hit their mark. The feelings of isolation and exploration are, IMO, unparalleled.

Has anyone here played F.E.A.R.? Any good?

(I just ordered it, along with The Orange Box.)
I played F.E.A.R. and both expansions. F.E.A.R. is worth playing the expansions can be avoided.

I was looking forward to a new Timesplitters game. I guess it won't happen now. It seems like their last game, Haze, just didn't make enough money to keep the company alive.

Aww, I love those Timesplitters games. Maybe someone else will acquire the rights.

Anyway, I got Soul Calibur 4 second hand yesterday. Any game where you can have Darth Vader fight an enourmous chested dominatrix woman in a jungle surrounded by dodos is basically objectively awesome.

    Thanks Morris!

Blizzard just started their Battle reports. It's a 20 minute video of a Starcraft II battle with awesome commentary.

Here is the first one. (Protoss vs. Terran)

I cannot wait for this game.

So, I beat Persona 3 yesterday morning. I would not hesitate to call it among the three very best video games (if not the very best). Over 92 brisk hours, I never once got tired of the battling, the music, or the school events. In fact, the game came to a close and I was saddened because I didn't get to do as much with the NPCs as I wanted to. The game often gives you just simple moments with nothing so much as a line of dialogue from a character, but it was worth doing because of the strength of the writing and the loving treatment of the characters.

And that ending! Positively exhilarating and immensely satisfying. There has rarely been a video game where theme was so prevalent in all the game elements. It's a freaking masterpiece, and the experience is going to stay with me for a while.

    Yes please.
Deus Ex 2 sucked so much balls though.

Let's hope this is closet to 1 in terms of gameplay and style.

I loved the first "Deus Ex". One of the first games where I really noticed the music.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

    Persona 3 is a PS2 game.

Duke Nukem Forever will be scheduled to come out the day after Armageddon and will never be released, even if it's finished.
