And speaking of good games marred by technical issues at launch, Control is 60% off on PSN for a couple more days. Apparently it reeeaalllly chugs on original PS4s, but I'm taking my chances that they've patched most of it out by now. At that price it's just too intriguing a game to pass up.

A Danish site has leaked that PS5 could be €800.
That's over $1000 USD.

Totally agree. They were able to recover from their $600 price tag of the PS3, but they were pushing a new format and it made sense. Unless they have some kind of brand new technology in the PS5, NO ONE will buy one. Not even if it launches with Uncharted 5.

I don't think PS5 will be so high. Everybody always vastly overestimate next gen price during current gen.
But I'm extremely curious how far Sony and Msft will push it. SSDs in quasi-portable boxes can't be cheap.
They need to price themselves somewhere between "more expensive than a low end Chromebook and iPad" and "cheap enough to make you reconsider a budget gaming PC."

Even $500 is a bit much. I want them to do what they did with the PS4.
Launch at $400 and a couple years later, launch a PS5 Pro.
Launch PS4s have been perfectly fine for the majority of the games released unless you want to do VR stuff.
I have a launch PS4 and the only issue I've ever had with it is that the harddrive is too small.
PSVR works like a dream.

Consumers have been acclimated to ~$500 price points on consumer electronics they use every day. (Phone, tablet, laptop, television, etc.)
I'm pretty sure Sony is aware of this and it will effect their price point.
Based on nothing whatsoever, I'm officially predicting $500 for PS5 and $600 for Xbox Series X.
