According to my Switch, I have ~500 hours played on Diablo 3

    Send help

I no longer believe there are other games out there

That’s fantastic, though. And I feel like that game would be incredible on Switch.

    What’s your favorite character class?

Side note - the post of mine you quoted was supposed to say Darkwood. My phone is old and autocorrect has gone a little daft. I just didn’t see it til now.

I went through the phase too when it first came out. It definitely hooks you. The voice over work and animation is excellent.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

The Switch perfect for it because endgame D3 is basically 3-5 minutes of hack-and-slash action at a time. So I can pick up and play for 20 minutes or whatever and grind out 4-5 levels / rifts / whatever.

I'm playing Monk this season. Right now I'm hovering around ~175 on the leaderboards, which are packed with people running hacked gear. (I honestly don't understand players who cheat at a largely single player games. It's like ... congratulations, you have no bragging rights and nobody thinks you're a good player.)

    Is this Darkwood? https://store.steampowered.com/app/274520/Darkwood/

That looks waaaaay f'in creepy but I'm kinda digging the top down approach.

    Yep that’s it.

It’s a survival crafting game like Minecraft or Don’t Starve, but in a horror setting.

Blizzard does grindy ARPGs like no other and I gotta admit I am a sucker for them. D3 isn't even a great game but the core mechanic / loop is extremely satisfying.

Some of the best gaming moments I ever had was just farming or grinding for HOURS in WoW while shooting the shit with my guildmates on teamspeak/ vent.

I kinda miss that but then WoW is like a 2nd job. It's nice to play in short or long bursts whenever.

Survival crafting in a distinct horror setting sounds cool. Do you like it?

I've thought about it and I've been watching people play the beta on Twitch and ... man I dunno.

    It's bittersweet.

I have a tough relationship to that game. I can't look at it without being flooded with memories from both in and out of that world. I went through a rough patch back then -- a friend of mine died young, alone and in the middle of the night, and then I had a death in my family months later -- so at the time I used WoW as a sorta crutch to get me through. There were some great people on my server and I still think about them, now and again. They never knew it but they took the sting out of my grief.

If they were gonna play, I'd buy the game and a subscription just to be able to say "Hey, how you been the last 10 years?" or whatever.

So I dunno. I don't think I'd be able to actually do it, play it for real, but it'd be nice to see those people again and run around the Barrens shouting "WHERES MANRIKS WIFE" for the lulz.

Well, there's all of that, plus I still have a latent need to kick the Alliance's ass in Warsong Gulch just one more time.

Yes. I’ve never really been into a game like this before (never played Minecraft or others like it), so I do kind of feel like there’s a level of “you should know this” to it. But it’s not bad enough that I’m having to look things up or anything - I think I’m just taking longer to “get it” than others might.

That sounds cool tho. Not having to look things up is a sign of a well designed game.

(I also think it's more fun to play blind, even if there's learning curve.)

It’s a very scary game but has no jump scares - it’s all atmosphere.

It also has one of the most incredible prologue - tutorial sequences I’ve ever played, revealing the world and plot and pulling one heck of a twist on the player.

    Very cool, well written stuff.

I would check it out based on your recommendation but horror games freak me the fuck out. (Back in the day, I couldn't get past the first ~hour of gameplay in "Resident Evil." When those dogs jumped through the window, I startled so badly I dropped the controller and almost knocked over my chair.)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing...
“What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, er... an eating machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this machine does is swim and eat and make little sharks and that's all.”

Beat my 4th Valkyrie in God of War. This was a tough sonofabitch. Kept summoning minions of all varieties so I had to keep my eye on her all the time. Tried for 3 days, about 90 minutes each, but nothing. I even punched my leg, it is bruised now. But I started to realize I was getting better and better, knowing what weapons and specials to use when.

Today I did it. I was shaking, the adrenalin and finally euphoria was astonishing. I walked my dog, had this smile on my face like I had taken a shot of whatever drug.

    What a crazy feeling!!
