Yup. Definitely surprised a lot of people. Mark Hammel as The Watcher was also a surprise.

I love the first two Darksiders. Great art style, unabashed borrowing from other games but felt unique, controls and gameplay are wonderful.

The second one has some great music, too.

I never bothered with the third (despite really looking forward to it), as the reviews were cumbersome.


Downloaded a pretty neat VR game called The Persistence. Has a real Dead Space vibe to it. Controls really well and super tense.

However I could see it getting repetitive if it doesn’t break from the formula it has established in the first hour.

Still, a fun time.

God of War meets Zelda is apt, but it strongly puts me in mind of Soul Reaver both in its gameplay and with its 90s comics fantasy/urban styling and mythological drama.

Still playing RE2- Trying to do Clarie A on hardcore. I'm at the end, with two fights left G3 and G4. But I'm in Danger so it's a struggle to get past G3 right now.

As someone who has never played the original version, do you think playing this new one would be OK or is it meant to be played by someone who knows RE2 already?

You definitely do not need to play the first game to get the most of the remake. There's some wink and nods, but for the most part its completely original story.

Hell, you don't even need to play Resident Evil to have fun with this. The story is completely self contained.

Put it this way; Point A and Point Z are the same, but B, C, D, E, F, G........W, X, Y, are completely different.

Another good example is, the 2ndary characters you control, serves a completely different purpose in the Remake.

It's pretty much the perfect remake or how you would expect a remake to be structured. Different Puzzles, completely different layout, winks and nods here and there, and then.. the X Factor... (which is the best element of the game).

More RE2 stuff: So I beat Claire on hardcore in 1 hour 40 minutes to get an S+ ranking. (this gives us the unlimited minigun)

Now I'm attempting to do it with Leon (to get unlimited rocket launcher).

Would anyone be interested in seeing my first half playthrough? Took me 11 tries yesterday to get to the tram/sewers. I'm going to attempt to finish it tonight.
