Welcome to he world of R&D. Sometimes you need to buckle down to meet a schedule. Might as well ban your iphone, laptop, internet and essentially anything connected to the internet.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I get what you're saying, but my problem isn't so much the actual use of crunch, as the hypocrisy the studio has shown in how they used it.

If you're dying to play this game, get it nonetheless. It's gonna sell like hot cakes anyway.

If you're not foaming at the mouth to play it, well, I suppose you could play other stuff.

Devs put in long hours at the end of a dev cycle (or in this context, as a game is about to go gold) to meet schedules.

I'll tell ya what; If I didn't crunch in college I wouldn't have graduated.

If we didn't crunch crunch at EMC your cloud anything wouldn't work.

Not to go all "pain Olympics" with it, but when I read what constitutes "crunch time" in the tech industry...that's a fairly normal retail work week once you hit management.

I'm on vacation this week, then for the rest of the time straight through til Christmas, it is expected that I work 60-70 hours a week. Every weekend. 6 days a week bare minimum.

My schedule for next week when I get back from vacation:

    7am - 6pm Tuesday to Sunday.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

I'm still confused at what that means towards the game? Sympathy for the team that's trying to get it out on time?

Rings done. One trophy to go. If it’s an active weekend, I’ll platinum. Need one miracle, but need level 2 covenant with the DarkMoons to get it.

So Call of Duty: Modern Warfare it is. Just a quick, fast-paced, rootin' tootin', slambang, pull no punches action extravaganza. Lol.
Well, that was indeed a quick campaign. Still all too familiar, but some missions were really tense. Nice graphics upgrade too. I wish these games were a bit more open ended, like there is the castle you figure out how to get inside. I also wish I was on my own a bit more, would make things more tense, and me more proud if I survived something. Now it feels like there are literally times when I can just let others do the dirty work.

On to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order now.

Actually needed a couple more easy to get miracles as well.

    Dark Souls III Platinum, done.

Yep, this is Uncharted in space allright. Still, graphics are fantastic, the star wars license seems to kickass. I chose the highest difficult level.

This looks like it's gonna be craploads of fun.

    I platinum'd that one!

It's good fun. A tad janky and bland at times, but really liked it overall.

Hope they do more with the characters.

I had a good time with Jedi: Fallen Order for a while. Combat was fun, really nice level design, good use of the license. I think it could've held my interest to the end if the the rewards for exploration weren't merely cosmetic.

Very true. Once I had a purple lightsaber I didn't care about much of the other stuff anymore. Just got it to platinum.

I will also say there are 2 or 3 times that the difficulty spikes hugely, one of them being the final boss. Felt like Genichiro all over again.

Thanks for the notice. I can always dial down the difficulty, although I'm a pretty stubborn sonofabitch. I think I did this just once, during God of War 3.

It's getting things off your chest time. It's bullshit that even with a new console area dawning upon us, we are still given the option to choose between 60 fps (but without ray-tracing and native 4K) or ray-tracing enabled as well as native 4K, but only at 30 fps. Spiderman: Miles Morales is one offender, others will surely follow.

Sure, being given options is nice I suppose, and it's not a dealbreaker, but still. When will this duality end? Maybe during the middle or towards the end of this console lifecycle.

Cyberpunk 2077 a good month away now. I'm pretty stoked! I hope the lavish city isn't just a background but that there's plenty of opportunity to go snooping around and discover stuff.

Last week they revealed more about the vehicles, and I was surprised to discover there are going to be some real cars in it such as the Porsche 911 Turbo. Well, the only one as it turns out, owned by the Reeves character.

If the world is half as realized as that of Witcher 3, then you'll grow tired of it long before you explore all its nooks and crannies.

A futuristic city that isn't in ruins might seem refreshing to go through at least.

I hope they learned their lessons from Witcher 3 and don't overstuff the game. There was so much good material but it got lost in hours and hours and hours of filler.

I've seen trailers for Cyberpunk that make it look really cool. I've seen alternate trailers that make it look like Grand Theft Auto with cyberpunk aesthetics. We'll see.

(Otoh every time I see them boasting about their character creation screen, I wanna throw something at the screen.)

I seriously burned out on Witcher 3 because I did ALL the side quests.

Is there any way to not have to enter my password EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I go onto the Nintendo eShop on the Switch?

With a crappy internet connection, it sometimes cuts off and I have to reconnect and have to re enter the password 3 and 4 times.

    This is infuriating.

From gamefaqs: "You have to select your avatar inside the eshop and then change it in the settings there to skip the password."

I turned it off awhile back because, yeah, it's annoying as hell.
