I find the entire premise silly. The Animus, the corporate espionage actually linked to this Assassin guild, the attempts at writing those events into history.

It’s not that I dislike the ideas, I dislike the overly self-serious delivery.

The tone just doesn’t work for me.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"

    "Rick...it's a flamethrower."

In 6+ hours of ACO, I've been out of the Animus once.

But I held X and skipped the cut scene. That's what I do for all the cut scenes.

I listened to a podcast about Greek history to study for a uni exam for the majority of Assasins Creed 2 to study for an exam. No idea what the story of the game was about but I got an A plus in that course.l

As far as open world RPGs go, ACO is my favorite since Skyrim. About 20 or so hours in, and it just keeps getting better. I think it absolutely destroys The Witcher Wild Hunt in terms of game play and interesting things to do. The Witcher might be better written, but I hated playing the game. The combat in ACO is so much fun. In combat, it plays like a Souls-lite game. The loot continues to be interesting, and the game offers up the perfect amount of new weapons to keep things interesting, while avoiding inventory clutter. It is an expertly designed and made game, down to the last detail. My only complaint is that I wish it wasn't "historically" based. I'd much rather it be a full on fantasy with monsters and stuff. This would allow for more creative environments and scenarios. But so far, the game as done a good job at making Egypt feel diverse. I do worry, though, about the enemy variety being limited because of the historic setting.

It's probably my favorite next to Fallout.

I honestly haven't even watched video of the new combat system in ACO. What's different about it DD? Is more Shadow of Mordor-ie? Because that sounds excellent.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

if the combat is Shadow of Mordory, then I may need to make this my first entry into the AC franchise.

Speaking of Shadow of Mordor - Scar, does that fancy new meat grinder of yours render orcs? CUZ ORC HUNTIN' IS GOOOOOOOOOOD.

(Orc burgers, Orc Stew, Orc Tartar, Orc Ala King, Orc Sausage, Orc Chili, Orc Tacos...)

Combat is more like Dark Souls lite. Blocking, parrying, animation timing and i-frame dodging. Not like Morder at all.

I’m pretty sure it’ll grind ‘em up just fine.

    Thanks for that, Duke.

That is seriously such a huge bummer. That was one of my very favorite series’ last gen, and I was dying to see what could be done with it going forward.

    Fack.

What didn't you like about it?

I think it might be the best story in the medium.

Considering it's and game and that it needs, ya know gameplay, I will say this game got an astonishing amount of mileage out of the simple act of walking through the levels and soaking up the eerily deserted and hauntingly beautiful locales. Very mature.

If your argument is it doesn't have gameplay (which is a super poor argument), then is the Witness a game? Or Proteus?

Or is the gameplay just not for you? (Which is a different argument)

Last of Us is a great game to watch a non-commentary Let's Play of. I really couldn't get into the gameplay.
    Sure why not?

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (Rian Johnson) - 9
STRONGER (David Gordon Green) - 6
THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9
LADY BIRD (Greta Gerwig) - 8

    Agreed.

Uncharted 1-3 were great. 4 stank.

The Last Of Us wasn’t my bag.

If you are good at games and don't mind playing on harder difficulties, I would highly suggest playing Last of Us on hard mode. This forces you to use all of the game's mechanics (like the bricks and bottles, melee, excellent crafting and cover systems) in a meaningful way instead of just being an invincible dude w infinite bullets. It also ups the tension and in a way reinforces the game's themes. Survivor Mode is even better.

But unless it turns out to be one of your favorite games, DO NOT buy or play Grounded Mode. It's insanely hard. Maybe the hardest gaming thing I've ever done.
