Halo 3 looks pretty.
Yeah - now why didn't they announce something this cool at the real PC?Quoting Saya (view post)
Pikmin is awesome.
Wiimusic is the opposite of awesome.
Some levels look really amazing. Where are you in the game?Quoting Skitch (view post)
After haven't played the game in months, I had the idea yesterday to finish Halo 3 again on legendary difficulty. I couldn't finish the first level... I definitely need some practice again.
ohboyohboyohboyohboyohboy I hope Kum-By-Ya makes it into Wii Music.
Losing is like fertilizer: it stinks for a while, then you get used to it. (Tony, Hibbing)
That would rock so hard.Quoting bac0n (view post)

OMG, I am laughing so hard right now.
That shit is hilarious.
GRADIUS ReBirth announced for WiiWare.
Mega Man 9 + this = awesome.
The severed arm perfectly acquitted itself, because of the simplicity of its wishes and its total lack of doubt.
That's another thing Nintendo didn't even mention at their PC - Wiiware.Quoting Milky Joe (view post)
Can't say I am excited for these new 8-bit games though. Although that Gradius shot kind of looks 16-bit...
I'd much rather see a brand new looking/playing Gradius from Treasure, something as awesome as Gradius V - one of the best shmups ever made.
Or, better yet, how about a port to Wiiware, PSN, and XBLA of THE best shmup of all time - Radiant Silvergun.
After Ikaruga, RS seems like a dead cert.Quoting Daniel Davis (view post)

So Wii Fit is a big hit in the house. They should make this game mandatory.

What about "Final Fantasy"?
Now there's a series that's been done to death.
"All right, that's too hot. Anything we can do about that heat?"
"Rick...it's a flamethrower."
I'm done with all of Squenix's old franchises. I am especially tired of all their ports and remakes - it's like they've become the new Hollywood.Quoting megladon8 (view post)
I haven't finished a FF since VII, and I haven't loved one since US III.
I bought the first one right when it came out, and my friend Paul and I played it non-stop for weeks on end.
What's funny (and sad) is that the JRPG genre really hasn't evolved much beyond better graphics since then.
I am far more interested in western RPGs. I'll take Baulder's Gate, Icewind Dale, Plansescape Torment, Fallout, Diablo, Fable, WoW, and so on any old day.
As an old school pen and paper RPGer, I have some major problems with JRPGs.
First of all, they don't allow you to really develop a character beyond what the designers and writers dictate. They aren't really role playing games. In an RPG, you design a character and then you develop him or her in the say that you see fit. In JRPGs, you play the role that the designers want you to play, and there is no changing it. You really don't impact the world or story in most JRPGs, you just go along a path triggering certain events in the plot.
In many Western RPGs, the player has at least some input in how the character and the narrative turns out. I know some people don't like this because it leaves a lot of the "fun" up to the player to make.
Secondly, another important aspect of RPGs is loot and equipping your character with said loot. When I find a new sword, gun, helmet, or suit of armor, I want to put it on and see it reflected in my character. That's part of the fun of finding the loot. JRPGs don't allow you to do this. They spend so much time and money on the art design that allowing the player to change the look of their characters is unthinkable.
This would be like a DM handing a player a PC and telling that player exactly how the character should act and look. To me, that is not an RPG. JRPGs are more like interactive adventure games. I just like more role playing in my RPGs.
