Being well acquainted with the Dark Souls games has made the gameplay easier for sure. I’m used to playing defensively, rolling, dodging. If you try to just hack and slash you’ll get destroyed fast.

Started Red Dead Redemption for the first time....
Like most Rockstar games, great production values, wonderful atmosphere, a believable open world, but so dead set on telling a plausible, cinematic and gripping story, that pure, joyous gameplay takes a bit of a backseat. In my opinion of course. Nevertheless, it is good stuff, if a bit empty. If you like soaking in the atmosphere more than actually taking a bite out of thrilling after thrilling mission, you will love this. Me, I prefer something like Just Cause 3.

I'm noticing that right off the bat Morris. Takes so long to get going, when the gameplay happens, it's short lived before it throws me into another cinematic. Still fun.
I personally liked the pacing, but yeah, if you're looking for pulse pounding action, those moments are going to be few and far between. That being said, there are several good ones as I recall.

Excellent game. And if you think it gets dull, just wait 'till that first mountain lion ambushes you. From then on, you're head will be on a swivel, especially if you 'think' you heard a mountain lion screech.
I also remember there's one spot later in the game where the grizzly bears just do not stop spawning. Ended up with 30 some pelts before bolting.

Also, when you feel like you're getting near the end, let us know. Don't wanna spoil anything, but there are some specific things you'll want to do that you'll regret not doing.
