Full disclosure, though, I'm looking forward to this.

Curious, not snarky: Why? Because of Wan?Quoting Dead & Messed Up (view post)
Curious to see how Wan handles it, as I'm a fan of a fair amount of his work; enjoyed Mamoa's silly bro boy attitude in Justice League (he has a charisma that comes easily); and weirdly, the fact that there's been absolutely no behind-the-scenes rumor milling and drama. I'm not looking forward to it 100, but I'm looking forward to it 60 or 65.Quoting Irish (view post)
Personally I'm in it for more shrill surfer-hillbilly yawping.Quoting Irish (view post)

I'm looking forward to this too! I don't want DC movies to be bad. I just think most of the ones that came out are embarassing.
Manchild: The Movie is lookin slick.

Shazam looks good, Aquaman looks fucking awesome.
lol what the fuck. So much going on in that Aquaman trailer. It looks ridiculous, but if it's fun I'll be happy.
And yes, more surfer-hillbilly yawping!

I would've been annoyed if they hadn't gone full Black Manta helmet but holy shit did they go FULL Black Manta Helmet! haha
Shazam! looks fun!
Aquaman... well, that's one hell of a busy trailer if I've ever seen one. Still, hopefully it turns out good!
Both trailers feature the stereotypical couple of elementary school bullies. It would be fun if the ones in Shazam are the sons of the ones in Aquaman.
That looks almost exactly like the "Empires of the Deep" trailer, only with even more money thrown in.
Aquaman looks even worse than imagined.
This has Green Lantern vibes all over.
Of all the things going on in that Aquaman trailer, the fact that they are talking underwater is what bothers me the most.
They went out of their way to make air pockets in Justice League too.Quoting amberlita (view post)
The Aquaman plotline feels suspiciously familiar. I was with the Shazam trailer until Levi jumped up and down and told passersby he was a superhero. Feels like a wannabe "Big," but dumber.
I don't have much faith that either of these will be better than the old "Justice League Unlimited" cartoon, which featured both a good Aquaman story and a great Shazam story.
To be fair, no live action superhero film has ever surpassed the brilliance of JLU and Batman: The Animated Series.
Those are the absolute definitive versions of nearly all of those characters and stories IMHO.

It's not the talking... it's the sounding the same as outside the water.Quoting amberlita (view post)
My friend dubs the trailer Wet Lantern.Quoting Irish (view post)
Midnight Run (1988) - 9
The Smiling Lieutenant (1931) - 8.5
The Adventures of Robinhood (1938) - 8
Sisters (1973) - 6.5
Shin Godzilla (2016) - 7.5
So we're 147 comic book origin movies deep and we're picking Aquaman to be the derivative one? The one who wasn't billionaire orphaned, bit, radioactived, magiced, alien, or power ringed?
Alrighty lol

I was thinking more of the two-part "Justice League" episode The Enemy Below, where rogue Atlanteans usurp royal power and provoke a war that Aquaman must stop.Quoting Skitch (view post)
We only saw broad strokes in the trailer, but the basic idea seems the same.
