I wasn't one of the enraged nerds who hated the Ledger casting, and I'll always give a viewing before deciding...it just isn't what I was expecting at all. Sure, he has the market cornered on genius/asshole for sure...hes just a whole lot younger than I expected them to cast.

    I like it!

Woulda personally gone with DJ Qualls, but still!

Jeremy Irons, though? Yuck. Too British. This has always been the role David Lynch was born to play.
Last 11 things I really enjoyed:

    Speed Racer (Wachowski/Wachowski, 2008)
    Safe (Haynes, 1995)
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut (Parker, 1999)
    Beastie Boys Story (Jonze, 2020)
    Bad Trip (Sakurai, 2020)
    What's Up Doc? (Bogdanovich, 1972)
    Diva (Beineix, 1981)
    Delicatessen (Caro/Jeunet, 1991)
    The Hunger (Scott, 1983)
    Pineapple Express (Green, 2008)
    Chungking Express (Wong, 1994)

It still feels like DC is in "oh fuck" mode on trying to mimic Marvel.... I hope they are signing these people to long term deals?

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

The more I hear about this, the more I'm convinced it's an elaborate prank and upon the completion of the opening titles, it will be 2.5 hours of Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up.

I don't mind the casting. He's a good actor at least.

A Lex Luthor in this day and age would be someone like Mark Zuckerberg. I buy the casting in that regard.

But why couldn't they have went with Bryan Cranston?!?!?

Was pretty shocked at Eisenberg. I like him as an actor to a point, but I don't feel particularly scared or overawed by him, not to mention I don't associate him with a huge range. It's a helluva fascinating choice, though. He's, uh.....he's also very short, to be bluntly shallow.

    He's 5'7. I wouldn't consider that "very short".

The average male height depending on study is 5'6 to 5'9. I wouldn't call the height of someone who fit inside the average range as "very short".

I have no idea what a midget commie is. I'm 6'0 and I wouldn't consider someone 5 inches shorter than me "very short". Anyways I don't see what his height has to do with him playing Lex Luthor. It's not like Lex is a character known for his size.

I bet the 9 foot tall Ian Mackellan thinks 5'6" is short.

So...Dwayne Johnson might be John Stewart Green Lantern?

And Tom Hanks was the runner-up for Lex Luthor?

Dwayne Johnson is like a walking cartoon. How is he going to fit in this Nolanish Universe?

    I don't know, but I think he's a pretty good B choice for Stewart.

I think the Nolan Universe began and ended with the Dark Knight trilogy.

His involvement in Man of Steel was cursory at best, and if I remember correctly, he has absolutely no involvement in these films moving forward.

EDIT: He still has a producer credit on this movie (Man of Steel 2, Batman vs Superman, whatever). But that doesn't really indicate any creative involvement. He's basically cashing in.

Doesnt the producer get to change whatever he wants cuz he's basically funding the movie?

In some cases. Sometimes the Producer is on board for different reasons and is actually being compensated. They generally have some creative input though.

Exec Producer credits extend to sequels most of the time, by contractual obligation (so they can get the monies). Nolan is credited on Man of Steel 2: Batman vs Superman because he started this Superman series despite the fact that he has zero involvement with this movie. Same goes with Man of Steel 3: Batman is Superman and Man of Steel 4: Baz Luhrmann's Batman + Superman.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

Besides, even if he's only Exec Producer, the inspiration for the whole tone and feel of Man of Steel obviously comes from his trilogy.

Hope The Rock never, ever plays John Stewart.
