Star Wars: Live Action TV Series (Favreau)

Thought it best not to put this in the TV section in case of a title change, and felt its "upcoming" status sufficient justification to stick it here until it's out. Mods are free to correct me, of course, and to relocate it thusly.

So apparently there may be some standalone TV series coming to Netflix.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

Disney is revisiting this now, will likely be a staple on their streaming service.

I love the news of the standalone movie trilogy from Rian Johnson...

....but FFS, I don't want another streaming service.

You won't need another one. Just cancel Netflix and move over to Disney. Netflix won't have much left worth paying $15 a month for.

If my choices come down to a streaming service of Star Wars and Marvel content vs a streaming service of Master of None, Peaky Blinders, Dear White People, Bojack Horseman, and GLOW, the idea that I would give up all the latter for the former sounds like a nonsense idea.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

You're forgetting the inevitable Fox purchase, which WILL happen. So.... add every FX series, X-files, X-men, Avatar films, Alien films...

Fox and FX shows are all on Hulu, which is 1/3 owned by Disney and 1/3 owned by Fox. If Disney buys Fox, they'll own 2/3 of Hulu.

The only thing I can conceive of that would make me want to subscribe to another service is a live action Star Wars show.

Netflix as more than enough quality original programming to remain a subscriber to. You're being a little specific to just your tastes, Duke (which is fine if that's what your into). For myself Netflix also has a wealth of anime.

And I will have to have an answer to the question of "will there be ads" before I even consider another service. I can't believe people pay for Hulu and still have to watch ads. I cut the cord to escape fucking ads.

I don't get ads on Hulu. There are two tiers of membership.

I've heard. I'd need to see price points for the Disney thing. I'm expecting it to be more than other services.

We'll see if that holds up. Because $8 a month sounds lovely. I spend more on coffee every day.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Sycophant again.

Dunno but that would make Kylo 17. Is that really the case?

I always took The Force Awakens to take place as far along from Return of the Jedi as the movie was for us. (~32 years)

So to easily track it, let's refer to when RotJ took place as the year it was released: 1983. This series takes place in "1990", so let's say Ben Solo / Kylo Ren is born that year. We get the sense that he's a teenager when he turns to the dark side, so say he's 17 then, then by TFA and TLJ he is in his mid-20s.

And not that it matters but Driver was 30 when he filmed The Force Awakens.

EDIT: Okay literally right after I posted this, I looked elsewhere online and saw everyone who take the novels and other materials now branded as canon saying that Kylo was apparently born the year after the Battle of Endor sooooo.. he's about 30.

I'd have figured Game of Thrones budget if they're going 10 episodes. Seems about right.
