Yeah, I really loved this. Grantland had this article last week about how it might have been an even greater TV show. Having that in the back of my head while watching was an interesting lens to view it through. Can't say I disagree. Feels like all this greatness could have been even greater if allowed to breathe across a few seasons. But it's still a fantastic movie. Great cast of new-ish faces that I hope to see more of. Loved Gandolfini in this too.

It seems like Match-Cut likes this a lot more than the general public or reviewers. I do too.
I've never seen a single episode of "The Sopranos". But this was good, even as I consistently felt it would have been better if it had introduced magical realism moments all the time, and not only at the very ending.
John Magaro and Jack Huston were unrecognizable here. Much of The Sopranos' defiantly anti-climatic and downtime-detailed spirit is retained, although when pressed for movie time and not centered around galvanizing characters, it makes for a shapeless film without much of a pulse. Really only comes alive for me during the Gandolfini scenes, both for the friction his character pierces into Chase's distanced, observant mode, and for the lived-in energy his performance provides even when interacting civilly with Magaro. 5.5/10
