    Movies that exist

Just now I stumbled upon this film's imdb page:

And my immediate reaction was: "oh, I forgot this exists".

I haven't heard any of my friends mention Hereafter. I know critics thought it was a mixed bag, but no one downright hated it (or loved it, for that matter).

So it made me think: what are some other movies that have fairly famous people in them, yet no one ever talks about. No admirers, no haters.

I was actually just reading about Matt Damon and he’s like, ‘There’s a culture of outrage.’ I’m like, ‘Well, they have a reason to be outraged.’ I think it’s a lot of dudes just being scared. They’re like, ‘What if I did something and I didn’t realize it?’ I’m like, ‘Deal with it.’

    Thought of another one:

Neil Jordan, solid director. Really good cast. Michael Collins was interesting enough.

Don't remember a thing about this movie, though. I guess Liam wanted another Oscar. That didn't happen.

I work in grocery. I have not gotten sick. My fellow employees have not gotten sick. If the virus were even remotely as contagious as its being presented as, why haven’t entire store staffs who come into contact with hundreds of people per day, thousands per week, all falling ill in mass nationwide?

I think it nicely captures the fact that these movies exist.

This movie is currently on HBOGO and I've been thinking about watching it sometime this month.

It's awful. By far Eastwood's worst.

Yeah, You've Got Mail is in no way forgotten. It consistently makes it into those top romantic comedies lists.

Although the rules to this are arbitrary at best, I don't consider You've Got Mail to belong in here for several reasons:
    • reunites Tom Hanks & Meg Ryan for a third time
    • remake of Shop Around the Corner
    • all downhill from here for Meg Ryan
    I submit

Haven't seen the movie since I was studying the period in high school history but I remember this being a really compelling take on Michael Collins' life without too much fabrication in it. I also remember Julia Roberts with a bad Irish accent. Wouldn't mind seeing it again.

Liam doesn't have a first Oscar btw.

Cheers Winston*, this carefully constructed thread is now officially falling apart at the seams.

All this research for nothing. Absolutely nothing. I could've spent my time playing games with my kids and reading them bedtime stories, instead of working on an algorithm that determines these movies based on imdb-scores and page hits.

Now here I am, admitting my defeat while my son calls for his father. Am I even to be called that still, now that you've completely emasculated me?

I hope you enjoy Michael Collins when you get another chance to watch it. I really, really do.

Posted these two together in another thread a while back, but seems apt for this discussion. If you can tell these two movies apart based on pure memory alone, then you are better than I am.

I don't care what anyone says, I still love Hereafter, even after three viewings. It's certainly a lot more memorable than this:

    Or this:

    Or this:

    Just because...
The Fabelmans (Steven Spielberg, 2022) mild
Petite maman (Céline Sciamma, 2021) mild
The Banshees of Inisherin (Martin McDonagh, 2022) mild

The last book I read was...
The Complete Short Stories by Mark Twain

THE DISASTER ARTIST (James Franco) - 7
THE FLORIDA PROJECT (Sean Baker) - 9

I just remember this movie as the one where to play the role of African born interpreter they decided to cast Nicole Kidman.

Edward Norton had a couple of these as well. Most unmemorable would be:

One of the dumbest taglines I think I've ever seen. What would a policeman be uncovering except for the truth? It might make sense if they were archeologists.
